In this video we show you how to tie an alpine butterfly knot directly around or into an object using a 'rethreaded' technique. This is super useful for rope access and rescue applications as well as tactical roping.
I have been tying a Bull Hitch and did not know how to tie the alpine thru a hole.......now I have to tie this every morning and night before bed for a few weeks and it is natural ........thanks.
You witter on too much. Just show the correct positions of the road, loops, etc. You don’t have to show all the incorrect positions with all the explanations of why they would be bad. Just go step by step on how to form the knot and be done with it.
I disagree, when I was first shown the Bowline it was so easy to follow but later when I tried to tie it I kept making mistakes and couldn't understand why. It took me a long time to figure it out so now I never get it wrong. Just a pity someone didn't show me the pitfalls before I started.
This is a pretty bombproof instruction. It is easy to tie this wrong and addressing the wrong ways let me recognize when I was failing to tie it correctly and get back on the right track. I use this knot attach a backup rope around a skinny tree when I need to spur up and cut something before I descend and cut the tree down. When you have a lot of things going on, branches, leaves, gear, etc, it is easy to make a mistake and get something wrong.
This is how instructions should be! I always get confused depending on my perspective on the knot, what side or direction loops and knots are started, etc. Your steps are clear enough so i can tie from any direction or side. Thank you!
Nice, but obviously if you were using this technique for a multi point anchor, you'd have to attach the alpine butterfly first and the follow-through figure 8 last, then adjust length for desired sharing of tension.
Thanks for sharing. I prefer to see a ‘p’ rather than a ‘D’. The wrong or opposite side would then show a ‘q’. Finally I always check whether my knots are ok or not: here, 2 parrallels on one side and 2 crossings on the other side. Rgds.
Just tie the damn knot lol way too much fluff, this is not that complex of a knot …blah blah blah, the pace of thing a knot or instructing it should never be this slow and drawn out, there is not this much verbiage needed to see how a proper knot is tied
Some knot videos have too much waffle but for me, this was perfectly paced: and every step/comment/ camera angle helped make my learning faster than the all-too-common faster, show-offy style. Remember it’s a rescue knot: details matter.
