The Reality of Localities- Hey Folks. In this video we give a few examples of different localities of reticulated pythons, and the role they play in our breeding program. Different regions or localities can have a huge effect on the appearance of reticulated pythons, and since we have such a diverse collection, we figured we would share some with you guys! Enjoy! As always, if you ever have any questions, just reach out.

Jake Klotz here around Chicago currently has his Sula female and 75% sula tiger male paired, really looking forward to seeing how that clutch (assuming he gets a clutch) turns out.

What genetics are known for large size and friendly temperament?
@wildfireretics8275
@wildfireretics8275 3 года назад
I don't know that I can say there is anyway specific genetic variation that is both large and calm/friendly. Generally, if the morph has been around a while , ( i.e. the further removed from the wild) it may be tamer. But the operative word there is maybe. There is no real guarantee. As far as temperament, a large part of it really comes down to working with your animals frequently and accumulating positive interactions over a long period of time.

@@wildfireretics8275 Some genetics are known for being aggressive/flighty so I thought maybe some would be known for the opposite. Perhaps there is a largest retic gene(s)?

@@bigjoncash4297pieds are known for aggression and tiger are known for size and being more friendly.some would object but I personally know Jay and Kevin and heard both say that.but it’s not guaranteed as I’ve seen examples the other way around as well.

I can tell from your backwards hat and the way you hold the snake with very little support that you shouldn't keep animals.

I've been preaching that stuff for ages to them advocates of wildcaught-ending to no avail, they just don't listen or are unable to understand. If you ban wildcaughts *fully,* you'll kill the hobby. You'll slowly inbreed all snakes if you work exclusively with the same genetic content for ever. Furthermore, if we wanna keep finding new and interesting animals, we must work with what's out there. The idea should be to *limit* the wildcaught business to an extent, rather than end it. Besides, each part of the planet has different realities, we westerners tend to associate nature with "extinction", but in some places some animals are nearly a pest and the environment could benefit from a population downsizing, so wildcatching doesn't exactly hurt.
