VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Kevin & Elizabeth built this cabin in the backcountry of Montana. Surrounded by trees and wildlife, they are able to enjoy the simple living lifestyle. With the space they were working with, they designed a functional tiny kitchen that serves them well. Their living room is spacious and bright with ample room.
This project started back in 2018 and was built slowly as they had to content with the snow. Being the cabin is so remote, Kevin & Elizabeth had to wait until the snow had melted to work on the cabin. Once they got the cobin shell completed, the build progressed much rapidly.
Believe it or not, they build this stunning cabin for only $7k. While they did luck out with some of the building materials, they also thrifted and bargain shopped for building material.
My favorite part of about this build is the thrifting aspect. I thrifted a ton for my skoolie build and was one of my favorite things to do on weekends! What is your favorite part about this cabin?

FYI. You should not put the stove and fridge side by side as the stoves heat can interfere with the fridges compressor and not cooling it properly.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Not the best design, but if they’re happy that’s all that matters🤷🏻‍♀️They seem like very nice people and I wish them the best😁
@BrittMFH
@BrittMFH 11 месяцев назад
Yes, that's entirely true. Also, it's not aesthetically pleasing. It's not practical for a right-handed person to stir and manage handles. No counter on right side of the stove is unhandy. I've remodeled and vetoed this very layout so I have my reasons!!! 😉

@@BrittMFH Good advice! I understand we are all different but the idea of counter space to my right while a cook is a good idea. I would love to have this cabin as a getaway and would just change some things around. They seem happy.🙂

I would definitely recommend a compost toilet in this situation. We have 2 , one has a large tank outside that almost never needs to be emptied, and when you do, it’s a bag of dirt. And one that has the tank inside the bathroom. More work so we don’t use often.

I really like their attitude of thinking about what you want and then asking how you can do it cheaper by looking for throwaway items that will do the job. My friends teased me when I was looking to outfit a van that I held on to free tongue and grove cedar for 8 months while I was looking for a van. But, once I got the van I was able to complete my conversion for under $200 in materials. This couple lets me know I am not alone passing the wait for the cookie test. Haha
