Retired Dancer's Reaction to IVE "Either Way" M/V 

I think the theme of this song is about finding self-identity. In the MV, you can see that the six members are actually playing the same person. The protagonist is just like an ordinary person. She hears many opinions from others, criticizing the protagonist's way of doing things. Describe her as being like an older sister, younger sister, childish, etc. at times. The protagonist gradually becomes unclear about who she is, as it seems that everyone describes you differently. She began to feel lost, so she saw a different version of herself in the mirror. Others see the blonde Wonyoung who is always beautiful and smiling, but the black-haired Wonyoung can represent her inner world, and she actually cries when she is alone. Yujin’s lyrics illustrate the theme of the song: "They say it's bеcause she's an "I" and you're an "E" Wеll, let's just do a "V" together then" The "I" mentioned above refers to the MBTI test popular among Korean idols, I for Introversion, E for Extraversion. When Yujin says to put a V in the middle, it can be interpreted that she gives a V sign and no longer cares about other people's definitions of herself. The meaning of IVE is I've. All descriptions of me are part of what "I have", and it also means that the group IVE is composed of members with different personalities. Bridge of songs: "I, I, I Another version of me Me, me, me" Seeing them playing together shows that she is getting along well with her heart and accepting that she has different sides. The room filled with colored lights looked as beautiful to her as the galaxy. At the end of the MV, the right hand raised freely was held by her left hand. It means that the protagonist is no longer disappointed by the initial criticism, and she accepts who she is. There is no right or wrong way to be yourself, it’s just that everyone loves differently. Either way, we are good. Either way, I am good. The message of the song is very good and the acting is very good. I like this concept very much. Sorry for my bad English lol

The black and white shots of them really hit me hard. They’re idols who are always dolled up and ready for a grand performance and look as grand as they possibly can. But with those black and white shots. I saw girls who are daughters, sisters, friends, etc. Imagine hearing someone call your daughter “full of herself” calling your sister “a fool” calling your friend “childish.” I would be so heartbroken. This song is, by far, my favorite IVE song next to Off The Record due to how RAW it is.

It's sad that there are so many people that cannot be happy in their life without putting down others. Everyone is free to have their opinions but if we differ, that does not make me wrong. Life is hard enough without negative people hating on others. Live Life to the Fullest. Love Life.

you said it very well, this song and mv really puts me to a pause to coz it stuns me. the visuals, the directing, the acting, the song itself, and most esp the lyrics since i very much know the context of the everything. it's really just sad and seeing their mv reaction makes it sadder. annyeongz have said it's their favorite song coz of how much they connected with it and given how much scrutiny they've had to experience from produce48 until now, it makes the song even waaaay sadder.

This is their first ever EP which consists of 6 songs. 3 title tracks and 3 b-sides. Either Way, Off The Record and Baddie are their title tracks and Holy Moly, OTT and Payback are their b-sides

This song was masterful… beautiful lyrics and acting.

Same I got goosebumps also at first watching the m/v. And everytime I hear either way, I'm same emotional as the first time I've seen & heard it. I think (in my own pov 😉) the galaxy/universe were representing every tiny little dust that consist everyone of us, that no matter how big or small it may be part of our existence were drawn by that. And IVE's just say it thru this song, IVE's same as US they've gone thru feelings as well as I am, as well as you are, as well as everybody else. I'm not a newbee when it's come KPop, but I'm new to IVE. Some of our prefered IDOL got us to THEM. Thina, if you watch behind the scenes of the MV. Yujin got really emotionally at the end where she looks like she is having fun. Even watching your reaction got me emotional. This is such an amazing song.

My mother had Lupus btw, so I sadly know what that means. Wish you all the best! Back to IVE: I loved this song and MV. A very different (retro) style, moody, subdued, emotional and vocal driven. Portrays them as more vulnerable and grounded, following the broader 4th gen trends without loosing their unique identity as IVE. Silly me, started to worry a bit that IVE might risk their relatability (which is so important for 4th gen groups) because of all that glitz and glamour in their previous MVs. So this was the perfect choice to showcase that they are way more versatile than the casual viewer (who only knows them from their MVs) might expect. And we get actress Yujin as MvP for the MV after we had lyricist Wonyoung as MVP for the album. At least in my opinion. In general very impressed how involved most of them are in song writing and with the quantity and quality of songs we got from IVE this year. A varied full album followed by a jp single, a promotional single and now an EP with 6 more songs coming soon. So almost 20 new songs in one single year (just one year after debut)? Amazing... Its in general a great year for K-Pop (again) especially girl groups...

I love your reaction! This song is very personal to them as each line is addressing others view about them on the internet. And it’s the kind of emotions all of us went through. It’s about confrontation and acceptance like you said, we might not agree with other people on their views about us, but we accept ourselves for who we are and also accept that humans are all different so we don’t let their words bother us. Usually the motivational message is about “you do you, I do me, I don’t care what you say” but this time it went so much deeper into understanding human emotions “I’m good, you’re good, we’re good. It’s not about who’s right or wrong, just like how we all love differently”. It really made me cry.
