Retired NYPD officer's car nearly auctioned after license plate stolen 

Funny how every time these things happen with plates and tolls they NEVER get solved until you call the local news.

And she a retired NYPD cop and they treated her like shit . Imagine everyday citizens how they are treated in these type of situation.

She's a cop and this is how they treated her, god help you if you are just a regular person.

Amazing how if it wasn’t for the news the city would’ve stolen her car stolen her money and no one would’ve done anything about it

This happened to my father-in-law took over two years to settle it in the end. The judge told him that nothing could be done until his stolen plate was found, which would prove the plate was stolen to begin with. bottom line is a stolen play is never found you’ll deal with this for the rest of your life.

Call the mayor. This woman should get $ compensation for all the BS government agencies put her through.

NYC bureaucracy is a bigger criminal than whoever stole the plate.

It's a shame that you have to involve a TV station to fix something like this.

This just happened to my special plates, and I had to get all the paper from DmV always watch the mail, do not disregard it and put aside this will not go away till you see balance 0,,, it sad we supposed to be the country of the world and our DMV system does not share across state lines

Had my plates stolen off of my motorcycle (it was a dirtbag illegal using it on both his delivery scooter and his other bike) and the NYS DMV REFUSED to cancel the plate despite doing all that paper work. They said I had to wait until the registration expires before the tickets would stop coming and to just fight the tickets. I had TWO judges find me guilty of speeding and red light violations despite showing proof that it was stolen and that I went to the DMV to cancel the plate registration. The judges reside in Staten Island. Traffic Violations Bureau are useless as are the NYPD as I told them where they can find the guy (if I had taken back the plate when I spotted it then there's no telling what would've happened).

A few days later criminal is released to do it over again.

Why does it take all of this to clear something so simple up. Come on NY

I'd invest in tamper resistant torx screws. Hopefully making it a lil harder to steal will encourage them to move on to another vehicle.

i can't just tow a car and sell it, i would go to jail, these tow companies and police should not be allowed to do this. all over tolls and parking tickets...... lets just steal some ones car and sell it because of tolls and parking tickets.

Crazy, this sort of things happen to a lot of people & the city has no sympathy at all. This should stop. An expensive purchase as a vehicle & they are quick to mess you up.

One Time I got a ramdom $300 parking ticket from NYC in the mail Out of the clear blue sky, Ive never driven a car to NYC in my life, I called them they gave me a hard time, I told them to kiss my ass and didn't pay it. Nothing ever happend about it. I'll never goto NYC again.
