no he's not breaking the box office records like that lol. but The Rock is awesome though and he's definitely doing a great job and one of the top action stars right now.
I bought this from a Chinese Market stall before it hit DVD sales, so a cheap risk. Its a great easy watch. Totally enjoyable and iirc based on a true story.
It sucked to be in the military in the time before the 1st Gulf war and I suppose during and after Vietnam. People loathed the military. I came home from from Iraq and everything changed, people were thanking you for your service and buying drinks, etc. Just weird how stuff changes and how Hollywood tried to spin things.
It was all because of the circumstances, in WWII we were attacked and people were signing up to go fight and soldiers came back victorious from defeating this great evil, so of course everybody loved the military and the servicemen. Then came Vietnam, we were fighting communisms and other interests but there really was no justification to be fighting there, on top of that people were being forced to go instead of volunteering, the atrocities of the war were displayed on TV back home and people were demanding the war to be stopped, soldiers came back "defeated" and people blamed them for the war and crimes instead of blaming the politicians in charge. It was not until 9/11 happened when we were attacked again and the people rallied behind the military again but it was never the same as WWII.
I think every veteran whether they are from Vietnam the Gulf war Kuwait or Iraq every single veteran I always think when I meet them because they chose to put their lives on the line to fight for freedom of oppression maybe not always ours but for somebody who was oppressed
This movie based on true story of Mr Buford Hayse Pusser (December 12, 1937 - August 21, 1974) was the sheriff of McNairy County, Tennessee, from 1964 to 1970, and constable of Adamsville from 1970 to 1972. Pusser is known for his virtual one-man war on moonshining, prostitution, gambling, and other vices along the Mississippi-Tennessee state line. His efforts have inspired several books, songs,[1] and movies, and a TV series. He was also a wrestler known as "Buford the Bull" in the Mid-South. ………… source frm : Wikipedia
Which makes me wonder why they changed the local to Kitsap County WA. Moolinshine, prostitution and gambling in Kitsap? And they have a blonde bad guy who somehow took over an Indian casino?
@@wanderingwade8877 basically, this movie wasn't based on the original, the original was loosely based on a true story, and Pusser got it a whole lot worse than The Rock did, there wasn't a square inch on Pusser's body below the neck that wasn't covered in scars from a single knife attack after he noticed the deliberate cheating at an illegal casino, that, and the sheriff's, and local justice system's corruption, Pusser decided to run for sheriff of McNairy County, Tennessee, by the time he left office, most of the corruption was gone.
By the time they started principal photography for the second movie, Buford Pusser was dead, I believe it was a car accident. Official reports stated he took a curve too fast, causing him to go off the road, the car was destroyed by fire, and he died of severe internal injuries.
In all honesty this movie made me think what the hell are people building casinos in small towns for when just miles outside is nothing but untouched land. Especially when you know where the reservations and sacred ground are in the states. It’s also funny cuz a relative native is the main character
I wanted to watch this Walking Tall video for a long time. Dwayne fans loved it. I got too busy in life to see it. I love your recaps. Keep up the great work.
Always like the fury from Dwayne that comes to fight corruption and beat the drug Mafia at his Home town . The moment that he leaves the shoot Gun and takes the Wood is the most precious 🤣
I met the real man (Buford Pusser) whose true story this adaptation was based on about a month before he was killed. It was at a drive-in in Georgia after a viewing of the original Walking Tall movie. I was just a kid and had a cast on my leg. My mother wanted him to autograph the cast that was on my leg, but we couldn't find a pen that would write on it. So, he autographed the ticket to the event instead. While I love the Rock's version as a good action movie, the original Walking Tall is much closer to the truth of the actual events and worth watching just to get an idea what the real man went through.
ABSOLUTELY! I have both parts 1 and 2. These movies would never fly in today's weak cinema and social snowflake society. However they depict everything spot on and gritty.
I have an idea that may help bring more viewers to each of your channels sir. Your recaps are great and provide the perfect opportunity for people discover unique movies both new and old that many may have never given the chance if they were to come across it on their preferred streaming service, or any other reason one might not come across a specific film. Personally, as a non-public film critic, i enjoy the best sense of reality a writer, director, cast, and overall team working on any film can provide not just as individual pieces, but as a whole. I feel that there are certain details in your recaps that lack certain details that could create an even better impact on the viewer of the review drawing them in even further. For example, in this specific recap, after you mentioned the main character being tortured by having being cut all over his body, I got to thinking, why he didn't bleed out instead of waking up on the side of the road after being left for dead. After quick a series of deductions I concluded that the answer to my question relied on a smaller detail that went unprovided in order to provoke the sense of reality that a lot of people simply can't go without when watching films (most especially films that are produced in Hollywood). Like I said, the smallest can details make every experience so much more impactful, especially if those tiny details are highlighted in an impressionable manner. Just a bit of constructive criticism, I love what you are doing and I wish the most success for you that could possibly be obtained out of all of this hard work.... Keep positive energy in your heart no matter what happens in this life.
dude clearly doesn’t live in the US lol i could go find pretty much any homeless dude(i’m from portland oregon) and get a gram for like 15$ if i felt like it

Actually, it's a remake of 1973 movie also called Walking Tall (they didn't even change the name for the 2004 remake) which is based on a real story of Buford Pusser.
4:20 "Kindly refuses his offer" Movie clip proceeds to show an agitated Chris say "No" in such a way that isnt calm nor not calm. Reminds me of the Goblet of fire with the book and movie Dumbledore difference
A modern version of Walking Tall, a true story that came out as a movie in 1973. The fight scenes were pure cringe but the man, Buford Pusser, was a modern true story about becoming a Sheriff to clean up a town.
I recall watching this in 1975 when it was the original movie and actually closer to the time of the true story ... not this bollywood remake ... and no it is not the first remake either ... Rambo is also the same story ...
Every one is talking about The Rock, but the movie originally came out in 1973 with Joe Don Baker starring in the role. Obviously, The Rock was not in that release.
This movie was filmed in the same town where my grandparents lived, Squamish Bc. Thus I can recognize the whole area, including the town and mountains, including the Witch on the Elephant.
I see why the police was quick to get him from the mill in the beginning and take him home thinking he was going to go look in the old mill and see the drug lab
i mean i do respect the badass character of the rock character but sometimes just using the law could have been easy, like arresting hamilton for trying to bribe a sherriff for example
people react to house cheating: meh its a casino the house always win people who were victims to the casino: they were cheating with loaded dice me: fuck em if dwanye can stood tall everyone couldn't
This the first film that i have seen where Dwayne Johnson get a role as a mixed black dude. All other major films I've seen him act in shows a character of Latin descent or racially ambiguous roles (btw there's NOTHING wrong with casting according what image the production needs) I'm just simply pointing this out as something interesting to me 😊 I think it's a cool story and would probably give it a watch
the original was in the 70's and in the 70's it was new and rare and expensive ... this is NOT an original movie ... nor is it the first remake but the 2nd .... the original was better .... and rambo is the same story with a change ... and then this one came out ... kind of like watching Casablanca and then Bared wire back to back ... you just watched the same movie twice ...
