We sold our older house and then bought a slightly later built home, flat on the ground, compared with the hilly block of the first. Honesty is the best policy. when books are cooked, that's when problems occur. My wife worked for a tax company and she saw lots of funny attempts to put in false returns to the tax office. RU-vid keeps me pretty busy, and the book kept me busy too, and I used to do a fair bit of drawing too, but travelling is a real pleasure, I have such itchy feet, I like seeing new things. I like 1950s 60s American land yachts, that was when America was at it's most cool.

I paid voluntary class 3 when I was working part time, just to make sure I got pension. Trouble is, despite paying in for 35 years, I still get the lower rate because of when I was born! Its all a very unfair system and this government are even stopping our winter fuel allowance if we are not on benefits. It pays to be lazy, don't work and spend all your money by the looks of it. You get no help whatsoever if you save for retirement. No help if you are a homeowner, this country disgusts me the way it treats its elderly. I've just had to pay £90 to see the dental hygienist. No NHS ones here. Our GP practice is now on a go slow, only seeing 25 patients a day. They want all us 'baby boomers' dead and buried and out of the way!!! See you tomorrow, bye!!!
I have just finished your book Trevor and enjoyed it so much. I have barely spoken to my husband for three days as I have been glued to your book which I could not put down. I’m not sure how people survive if they don’t have savings when they retire. Pat I’m very lucky I have a daughter in law that does my hair she has ever since you graduated from college. It might be possible to survive on the pension without savings, but certainly not living. There is a trend for vanlife as a way of living cheaper, if you have the right character makeup to do it. Thanks for that idea Debbie, I never thought of charging Pat for doing her hair. 😀

I have just uploaded one letter and it took four pages, that means the book would have at least 1200 pages. That sounds rediculous to me, so I don't think it's going to work doing it this way. I worked my magic Diane.

I do not understand why you are filling in a self assessment tax form if your income is below the threshold. Just ring them up and tell them then no more forms.
Because I choose to Francis. They know I am retired because they fill in my income from pension automatically. It takes me no time at all, I do it online and I know I have declared everything, so I don't worry.

Very different from Australia re retirment with pensions as here has nothing to do with working during lifetime. Has to do with Age 67 now in Australia and we have an assets test as well but does not count your home if you own one. (Also have a test re income if still having some). The full Pension here for a couple a fortnight is around $1,450 which is around 746 pounds….. Wow and we say we are badly done by.:Re assets you can have contents home, cars , money up to $700,000 360,000 pounds for full pension But over $950,000 488,000 pounds then no pension (Pension amount depends on assets calculated varies re money you get)
Thank you for that information Cathy, you only have to have more than £16000 in savings before they start counting it as income. Most people get more than Pat and I. I know Mick only gets 60% of Jane's pension, so they are like us in reverse. Glad you enjoy our chats Cathey.
Pat i have natural curly hair and only one in my close family, my Grandad had curly hair and now my Grandaughter, i also have a cowlick to my side fringe haha well the last 20 years i have been straighten it thinking it would help but it hasnt, if i go hairdresser they dont know what to do with it, so now i have no idea what to do with my hair, straightening it is now become a chore and it grows so fast too. help lol
I have never heard that expression " cowlick", Pat says she has, but Pat just washes it and leaves it to do what it wants. I actually love Pat's hair, I still carry an image in my mind of seeing her on our first date, and her hair was blonde and hanging over her shoulders in ringlets, she looked so beautiful, I have never forgotten it.
Well some others have zoom calls with the patroons just once a month, they then get a personal relationship with you, Tracey will help you with that, they send postcards , you could do that with your art, or send a card when you go on a trip, they also do a members live once a month, they use the zoom call for the highest patreon level, the members live for all the other patreons

I made an honest mistake the one year, claimed an amount that I thought I was eligible for and ended up being audited for the next 3 years. Canada Revenue Agency should be concentrating on the ‘big players’ rather than the lower income people. We are east prey for them. If so you could also claim severe dissabily ,pension savings credit and housing benefit to help towards your council tax .How do you pay utilty bills .With a very low pension you qualify for low cost water every authority offers a scheme . The best way to receive lump sum savings is to set up a Family Trust with a Trust account and pay just pay tax at Source. See Tax free ISA Nationwide £20.000 per year.Fixed or flexible withdrawals. Nationwide have launched a savings account at 8%. Do not lose pension credit as this is gateway to so many other things. You can Legaly gift your daughter £5.000 . A family Trust would completly solve the problem.
when you pick a name remember to find a page people search mobile home or retirement, so you need a name that comes up to new people so your dail6headin is very important

On the title bar of each vlog I put the keyword retirement. Not every vlog we do is going to attract the same amount of attention as having a head on smash, and I am reluctant to use click bate to get people to watch us. I bet when I eventually get permission to put the film of our smash up, it will get lots of views, it's just human nature.
The channel is still called Trevor & Pat Life On The Run, because some people search for that on google, but it is just a title for the vlog. I don't know whether to call all our vlogs the same title, or give each vlog a different title.
I still can’t quite understand what happens next year when I’m 66. My hubby is four years younger than me and the goal posts were changed in 2019. That I have to wait? for my pension until he reaches pension age. I know I can’t claim pension credit and have to stay on UC….that means I’ll be over 70!.
Steve Webb replies: Women used to have to wait for their husbands, but only very few who retire from April 2016 onwards will have to do so.But this has all changed with the advent of the new state pension. For couples who retire under the new rules - those who reach state pension age after 5 April 2016 - married women are treated the same as anyone else. I don't know if this is of any help Jacqueline.
