Retirement Ready?? Let's NOT talk about money 

My Dad once told me, “You don’t simply retire out of something. You need to retire into something”!

I think you nailed it with the communication! Communication with one another on what your expectations will be on time spent together & and doing what together & apart...how that balance will feel & adjusting that time as you navigate it. Same with communication with your kids & friends, what's too little, too much, or eventually a great balance as your kids enter new phases of their lives or grandkids ages. Kyle & i, while still raising kids have talked about the "some day" of retirement & what it will look like to consistently invest quality time in one another, our kid's families lives, our friends & the importance of all of it being present.

Great things to think about before and while planning for retirement. Really nice to see Robi joining in too.

I think a lot of this is true not only for retirement but also for many life transitions. As I look forward to being done with my Master’s degree and done with school (which has consumed my life for 20 years), I have to start to think about some of these things as well. I think it’s important to think about what purpose school (or work in your case) has given me and ask myself where I am going to find a new sense of purpose when I am finished. It’s also important to think about how our faith and daily walk with God is going to change. We will have more free time and are we going to use that to study the Word and spend time in prayer? Or are we going to fill it with entertainment and activities? You touched on this a bit but I think it’s worth noting that we often find success and fulfillment in completing tasks - in retirement, there won’t be assigned tasks to complete. How is that going to leave us feeling? Unsuccessful and empty? Thanks for these reflections and things to think about!!

When I retired, experienced a lot of what you are planning for. FYI.....the clock after you retired runs a lot faster than the clock before!!!
