Welcome to Before It's Too Late. On our channel we are going to explore topics from the perspective of a couple of everyday Generation X. We will take a look at the issues facing our generation and the issues facing the country and the world. The goal of the channel is to make connections and help folks live their best life Before it's Too Late.
That's a long and beautiful journey you've been on. It's completely understandable to feel that way after spending so many years together. We will pray you walk with your spouse to the very end.
Dating apps to me are just a nightmare. I joined one, lasted about 3 weeks and shut it down. Could not believe exactly what you both stated, no one was sharing the truth. I've given up hope of meeting a GOOD person. I lost my husband almost 5 years ago and he was a GOOD man. I'm in my sixties and years ago someone always knew someone and they would introduce you. That is just not the case today and the last thing I'm looking for in my life is drama. Good to see you both found each other and that it is working out!! Wishing you all the best!
Campground 4th of July picnic. Wife buys a watermelon and of course after watching Richs video, I volunteered to cut it up. Rich was right.....less than 5 minutes.....easy peasy!!!!
Getting older is scary I’m 44 parent of 2 daughters . I’m working to loose 50 pounds to better my health . I do a lot of walking n strength training 5 to 6 days week 😊
Not as much as it looked, at least in my opinion. Less than an 1/8 inch of meat, if that, most of the time. Much more waste when you slice and eat it off the rind. Thanks for watching and I will pay more attention to that when I cut going forward.
This is a very similar technique to what I use as a produce clerk. If you happen to have a heavier knife, that helps, and then you can use your off hand to push down on the back side of the blade for an easier shave. The only other thing he does differently is he cuts it in half lengthwise whereas I cut it in half standing upright (but still left to right across the midsection). The final result is the same, although I prefer larger chunks because they sell better at the store, which doesn't matter when you're at home.
Your vid came across my feed and I really enjoyed it! I am really needing to get serious on weight loss and bought a new scale this weekend. I already knew my fat % was high, but it also says my body is 50 years old. I'm not 50 😂 I do have a back injury that has been limiting, but I'm also just lazy! I appreciate the positive realistic ideas you shared and the walk was nice. I have always been fortunate with weight but I am learning age is very unkind in that department.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching the video. We've definitely found that you don't have to follow some special program or pay to eat certain foods to drop a few pounds. Just realize that it takes time and be good with going down a little at a time by making small changes that you can stick to.
I enjoyed walking with you two and learning a few new things. You got me started on “ X amount of steps per day” and I enjoyed it and saw results. I am back to walking now, but need to do it more often. Thanks again.
Chin up. You are way ahead of me. I am your age and I’m about to start a channel. You might want to consider going on upwork and hihing an editor to take your talking head videos and giving them a polish. Found you because of your latest health focused video. Its always recommended to pick a single topic and stick to it so RU-vid knows who to send your videos to. Good luck!!
Thanks for the advice! I agree that the prevailing advice is to stick with one topic or niche. I just changed mine a few weeks ago and we're hoping it catches on a bit more. The talking head videos were only appealing to folks who think like me, the actual opposite of what I would like, so a change in direction was called for. Good luck with your channel too!
I'm not quite sure where the book banning thing comes from as I don't think I have ever advocated for that. Now, I am not a fan of openly sexual books in our schools and I think parents should have a say in what is presented to their kids but adults can read whatever books they want. Thanks for watching.
You know, I was sort of with you for most of that video because I happen to be a college-educated, Gen X homemaker and a feminist. There are actually a lot of us out here! You lost me however when you used the words “screaming feminists”. That is not helpful, it’s divisive, unnecessary and polarizing. I wish everyone would stop putting everything in categories of “either this, or that”. Everyone’s experiences and beliefs are on a spectrum. I watched a couple of your other videos and you often place people on one side or another. “Leftists”, “radicals“ “the radical left” LOL. That’s simply an oversimplification. Most people are somewhere in the middle on most issues and it’s actually good when both sides have strong opinions on the fringes so we all have something to think about. (A professor of mine once said that in some cases, it’s necessary and helpful to overstate a point to make a point in order to move the needle ahead and make progress.) Anyway, I think what most women want whether they’re feminist or not is quite simply SOVEREIGNTY, and the expectation from men that we can speak for ourselves and choose for ourselves. I think where the speaker went wrong in that video, I can’t remember his name at the moment, is when he said that he thought most of the women in the audience were more concerned with marriage and having children. He did cross the line there into cringeville and since he wrote everything down, he should’ve been more thoughtful about his words and picked them more carefully by saying something like “some of you men and women may be thinking more about marriage and having children than cultivating a career which is what both my mother and my father chose and I salute both paths”.
Thanks for watching. I actually agree with you that most people are much closer to the middle than the mainstream media, on either side, wants us to think. I have done several conversation videos with my cousin in Oregon, who is on the opposite side of many of the issues than me, and we are constantly agreeing on most things. I think you would be encouraged by those. When I say leftists, radicals or radical left, I am talking about those that abandon common sense and spew hatred. I will be the first to admit that it comes from the radical right as well. What I would like to see is those polarizing voices muted, or at least turned down, but that is what gets people to watch those media outlets. As for "screaming feminists" I couldn't find myself saying that in the video, I did say feminists looney tune however, but I was referring to the women who accused him of being a white supremacist, not all feminists. I am not saying I have never used that phrase in a video, I may have. If I did, I would actually agree with you that language like that doesn't help. For the Butker video though, he was talking to a room full of like-minded Catholics, and that is overlooked when folks are picking at his talking to the women about wanting to focus on family over career. Not enough credit is given to women, or men or that matter, who choose to stay at home and take care of the kids over their own career.
Steps...lucky you! I stick to my cal deficit at 1200 cals per day but I can't walk, not because I'm overweight but because of Arthritis at 50 years old. Well done. ✅
Who needs steps when you're counting calories like a pro, right? 1200 would be really hard for me (Rich) but I bet Robi could do it. We are both lucky that arthritis hasn't hit us, at least not yet. Good luck on your journey.
Congradulations RIch on the losing weight. I took Wegovy for 6 months and I am glad to be off of it. I lost about 40lbs and gained some of it back. I changed jobs and new job insurance doesn't cover Wegovy. I can't do physical activity because of my knees (trying to get in the profession my doctor told me it took a toll on my knees, bone on bone now). My sugar addiction is Reece's Peanut Butter cups. Damn I love those things! Are you still heading up what you were doing in the loo? Oh, and I do like watching your channel.
Losing weight, gaining some back, it's all part of the journey. Keep pushing through, and remember, a little indulgence in those peanut butter cups won't hurt! Moderation is the key. I head up security for a company in KC now. Thanks for watching the channel!

I think you nailed it with the communication! Communication with one another on what your expectations will be on time spent together & and doing what together & apart...how that balance will feel & adjusting that time as you navigate it. Same with communication with your kids & friends, what's too little, too much, or eventually a great balance as your kids enter new phases of their lives or grandkids ages. Kyle & i, while still raising kids have talked about the "some day" of retirement & what it will look like to consistently invest quality time in one another, our kid's families lives, our friends & the importance of all of it being present.
Amen! It is so disheartening when people make up things and place blame based on their own biases, not based on the words spoken! Nice speech by Butker who clearly loves and values his wife.
Here's another reason we are a great generation.... many of us are striving to be in shape, healthy and fit mentally, physically, financially and spiritually well beyond our working years. That's cool!
A comment on your comment about walk in faith... parents are responsible to teach our children our faith. We hope to plant a seed that is grasped later in life when they are expected to make their own choices. Parents need to be role models, not their young child's friend!
I have to admit I’m a bit surprised your channel is not farther along. You have great presence on camera (very good camera focus) this is my second channel and seems to be a little harder than 2020. After 6 weeks I have 22 uploads (all long form) 105 subs and over 11k views.
I too am starting out and getting subscribers is tough. I had a few but lost them when I had to start over because of a rookie mistake. I My channel was not a business but personal account. I like following new creators as they start their journey. Good luck.
I started my channel on a personal account instead of business, I overloaded my phone with pictures and apps, corrupting my pictures. Did turn down the music volume and couldn't hear me speaking. Now I don't have a subscribe button. But that one isn't on me. Hopefully Google will fix it soon.
I think a lot of this is true not only for retirement but also for many life transitions. As I look forward to being done with my Master’s degree and done with school (which has consumed my life for 20 years), I have to start to think about some of these things as well. I think it’s important to think about what purpose school (or work in your case) has given me and ask myself where I am going to find a new sense of purpose when I am finished. It’s also important to think about how our faith and daily walk with God is going to change. We will have more free time and are we going to use that to study the Word and spend time in prayer? Or are we going to fill it with entertainment and activities? You touched on this a bit but I think it’s worth noting that we often find success and fulfillment in completing tasks - in retirement, there won’t be assigned tasks to complete. How is that going to leave us feeling? Unsuccessful and empty? Thanks for these reflections and things to think about!!
