The two of you are successful because you come across as very genuine. Obviously you have worked hard to achieve your success but it is your personality and the feeling we get that we can truly trust what you tell us that has made your success what it is, congratulations and I look forward to many more videos to learn from.
Congrats on your success! We tried RU-vid for 3 years, published every week, spent thousands on courses, consultants, etc. and it just never took off. I think we tried to focus on the exciting side of travel and the aesthetic of travel and it bombed with the over 40 crowd. A lot of the over 40 crowd are still raising kids, in full time jobs, and it made them upset someone was traveling while they were still working and struggling. Plus, we were just never comfortable on camera. The strength of your channel is the mixture of finance, retirement, and travel. It’s more information and value than aesthetic and during a time when the U.S. economy is not doing well for most people. While younger crowds need frame changes every 5 secs to stay engaged, older crowds will watch a couple talk for 40 minutes if they are providing valuable information. What you guys are providing is honest, transparent, fresh, and timely for so many people trying to figure out retirement or travel on a budget. Keep up the amazing work! You guys are dialed in. - Lance and Jenny
You are talented, you appear comfortable and natural in front of the camera, and you provide useful information to your audience. There is no luck involved with your success on RU-vid. Congrats on your impressive Feb income.
Four easons to add for your success. One is that you are generous with information. By diversifying channels, you are less restrained from sharing what you know, vs dragging it out. A second is that you don't try to be funny -- many presenters in this age range interrupt their flow with bad humor, and there's no pushback to let them know. A third is that you are very comfortable with each other, whereas many couples in your category have an awkward flow between the two presenters. Fourth, as you say, you pick good topics and you present the information efficiently.
The person who made that “luck” comment probably didn’t know you worked crazy hard on the first 5-6 channels to learn the best way to do this so the finances channel is the product of all that learning! #keepgoing
Love your channel. I am turning 40 this month..so I'm a millennial. My husband and I love your content and the realness factor. Keep posting and we will keep watching! Not to mention, you are both very motivating. We are planning on eventually doing full time travel when both of our kids are old enough.
Congratulations on All your success! I believe your success came because you both were genuinely approaching the RU-vid platform as an experience you all wanted to share. I first started watching you both when a friend started paying attention to your Amtrak Videos. Those Videos were genuinely informative and something that we wanted to experience ourselves. Plans to retire this year and want to travel and video the experiences we have. We’ll give RU-vid a shot but, it’s not necessarily to make an income from it but, if that happens Great! 😊
There were a lot of weather events in February keeping people indoors. No better time to look for vacation/travel inspiration than when you are stuck indoors from snow/rain storms! Congrats on your success.
I’m a new subscriber and enjoy watching both of you because you don’t do click bait, offer helpful advice that you have tested and you are both have a calm and peaceful personality. Congratulations on your success.
It doesn’t surprise me at all that you are having this well-deserved success. You work very hard to post engaging videos, and you’re both so sincere and kind in your presentation. 🎉
I love how you can forecast an annual budget, by anticipating costs of lodging and food, depending on the country/city you plan to visit! I would love "quarterly" updates -- going through your annual budget. Outstanding! Great channel!
I just haaad to add: Luck may play a tiny role in many of our lives, in different phases of our lives -- should we be so blessed to get to live a long and full life. But, Allie and Rob ... you both worked, and continue to work, VERY hard to get where you are now and to keep on going. And you share your knowledge -- we viewers respond to that by watching, rewatching, telling our families and friends, and rewatching some more. I highly anticipate your new videos on ALL of your channels. I keep my notebook and pen handy ... and a kettle on simmer because I always enjoy a mug of tea while watching and learning from your videos. I'm so in love with your Grounded Life Travel channel, and now I've fallen in love with Grounded Life Finances. Allie, your channels have opened my mind to visiting the Asian continent. I watch a lot of Japanese television, so I'm flirting with the idea (again) of visiting Tokyo, Kyoto and taking trains to small villages (I'm a longtime railroad gal!). And, because my French is improving, I probably would do well in Vietnam -- certainly foodwise I would. Although I've never, ever gone on a cruise, you've made me ponder doing a single cruise. That may be the hardest sell for me. I prefer railroads, but I'd like to experience a few days at sea and a few onshore, perhaps for a special occasion such as a milestone birthday -- or someone else's. I truly am inspired by the charisma and love that you have as a married couple and adore your individual personalities. You share the look of love, the love of living ... and the joy of lip-smacking cuisine. My goodness, your many videos have turned me into a foodie. Only thing to slow me down are annoying food intolerances and a few frightening food allergies. But ROCK ON, Rob and Allie! Keep on showing us those paradigm shifts in ways to think about travel, our finances and quality of life. Adult viewers of various age demographics benefit from your videos. I "ain't gettin' any younger," but, as Rob often says (and, here, I creatively paraphrase) middle-aged and older adults have many years of experiences that can be parlayed into the types of videos that can help others. Keep on motivating us; it feels fantastic!
I’m not sure how I stumbled on your Grounded Amtrak channel. But I was hooked after the 1st video. You both are so natural, knowledgeable and very welcoming. ❤ your videos.
Wow I love seeing the earnings for the travel channel. I post my travels as well and finally got monetized last year. It's nice to see the possibilities of earnings! Thanks for sharing :)
I am sure you have both work very hard as well. It irks me when people attribute success to luck. I really appreciate your transparency and great work. Keep it up
I'm not surprised y'all are doing so well on RU-vid. You all provide really good, USEFUL information. I watch a lot of travel vloggers and one of them has begun referencing your videos on his channel (30 And A Wake Up)...so expect more subscribers:)
You share good strategies. I'm glad you're taking some time to recoup & relax. I can't believe you've only had this channel for 10 months. Congrats on all of your successes. 😊
You deserve all the accolades for all your hard work! RU-vid is not easy for us, older folks, and you are both younger than me! You both are so talented in how you conduct yourselves that it's easy to see why you are popular. I may not get to travel like you, but at least I can travel with you on your amazing channels! Keep up the amazing work! I'm looking forward to seeing you take the Viking Cruise 🛳 😎 ❤!Travel safe and stay healthy 😊 ❤
I have been watching your videos and love the pace of these very informative videos. Both my husband and I are in our mid to late 60s and cannot watch videos that are jumpy or fast talking. You guys are so nice and easy going in your presentations - thanks for sharing!
Wow! I am so happy for you two! I just recently found your channel and I am so happy I did. You guys come across as genuine, fun, and full of information that you willingly share. I love this for you!
You both have great personalities and knowledge far beyond some of the You Tube travel channels I’ve watched. And you’re so humble. You’ve been in the game for a while now and killing it😊 Keep up the great work. Because of your channel I’m looking into going on the California Zephyr soon!
Wow. My husband and I have been thinking about a few channel ideas. I looked up my idea and there's nothing out there! I'm encouraged. Congratulations on such s huge success you boys deserve it!!❤❤❤
Your transparency, honesty, encouragement, and likability are making this channel so awesome!!! Instead of just saying do this and do that, you are spelling out very specifically what you need to do to achieve the lifestyle you have. You have inspired me to consider many things and to have conversations with others to start this process. Thank you!!!
Congratulations on your success! Thanks for the video guys. We can't wait to view your travel adventures in Taiwan, Manilla and Tokyo! I'll bet the hotel accomodations will be epic now that you've upgraded to Elite status😁
I would like to travel the way you two are going about it. If I could get my wife to buy into that type of travel, I would be over the moon. I suggested three months away and three or more months at home developing our next outing. Keep up with the great job you are doing.
I have followed y'all for several months and enjoy your cruise content. But this finance/retirement information is next level! I am heeding your advice about Hilton... They just sent me an offer for buying points with an 80% points bonus... but I remembered you said that Hilton points were not worth much, so I won't do the deal. I just bought your course and am sooo ready to learn how to do RU-vid over 50!
RU-vid is the real compound work. So happy to see your numbers. You are transparent and I like your attitude. Does 4K affiliate income include course sales as well?
Thank you for this! As I begin my YT journey, you both are the biggest encouragement, and I'm grateful! I would love to give a positive review for your course...amazing! Thanks for everything. 🥰
You guys are doing absolutely GREAT. Thank you very much for providing very clear explanations of your travel hacks and REAL WORLD EXPENSES. I started watching your Amtrak information videos, which I believe is what led your "Grounded Life Finances" videos into my feed. Let me tell you, I have been in the miles and points game for a good 6yrs, and this is some of the best content for maximizing anyone's travel. I am not surprised at your RU-vid numbers, transparency and down-to-earth explanations are some of the best on RU-vid, don't change. I think your secret weapon is that is work, it's you're passion and lifestyle.
Your success is due to hard work and a great work ethic. You have interesting content and are fun to watch. You deserve all you get. Congratulations on your success.
Great Advice! I started a Financial channel over a year ago. Views are getting better with time. I have 110 subscribers and climbing. We are going to retire in a few years. We plan to travel around the world. Love your videos!
Well my jaw just dropped! Congratulations on exceeding your goals and being willing to share the secret sauce. I love to learn from RU-vid creators like you guys. So much useful information across all of your channels. Thank you!
Your honest and transparent discussions about travel is very appealing to the wannabe and someday will be travelers. No surprise there! It doesn’t hurt that your such a handsome couple to watch 😉 I wish your channel continued success! Happy and Safe Travels, Always ❤
New subscriber here. I’ve had my RU-vid channel over 10 years and enjoy uploading videos of my travels as a way to save my memories. The little money is nice from the content but it’s never been my motivation. Learning so much from your channel.
Thank you for this video, saved it so I can watch it for inspiration later! Over 40 here and figuring out a new hobby I can have some fun with, make some friends, and earn some scratch
I just "discovered" you two about 3 weeks ago so, I haven't looked at all your videos but I am blown away by your numbers (as many attributed it to, it's your sincerity and of course as you've said your consistency and perseverence). A couple of questions: I think you only included 3 channels? Are the other 3 not yet monetized? And did your income include your RU-vid course?
Very inspiring! I already went through your RU-vid course and it was awesome! I am almost ready to launch my own channel and see what happens. Thanks for all your help!
I knew you guys were going to be a big hit with this channel. I’m so happy for you and I know there’s going to be a much bigger increase in the future. You guys rock and I love that you’re not running all over the place trying to video everything like other channels. You just teach what you’ve learned. I know it’s helping a lot of people. Thank you.
Baseball great Casey Stengel had an excellent comment on luck. Some people said that Stengel was lucky to win all of those World Series, and Stengel said, "you make your own luck".
Isn't it challenging managing all those channels? I often don't know what channel to catch your videos on or where I saw something you produced to actually go back and watch it.
Thanks for the great content, it's very inspiring! I'd like to follow in your footsteps, but I'm not convinced that I would be able to eat at the hotel as much as you do or keep my food costs as low. I don't eat animal products and strive to maintain a diet low in SOS (salt, oils, sugars). I certainly still dine out regularly, but tend to look for vegan, vegetarian, and healthier restaurants. I prepare simple clean meals at home, such as oatmeal with fruit, rice, veggies and tofu, rice and beans, sweet potatoes, etc. How difficult would it be to prepare simple meals in your rooms? Can you get kitchenettes? How much more would they cost? I'd love to hear more in depth details about the actual foods that are served at the hotels, how easy it would be to eat plant based in the lounges, and the "healthiness" of the food options. Looking forward to your reply, or maybe it would make a good video topic!
I agree with the comments regarding your well-deserved success. Where do I find your cruise channel? Do you mind sharing what your previous careers were? You are so comfortable watching online.
Congrats on your unexpected success! That is the best kind of success in my book :) I get so very excited watching your videos. Do you think it would be safe for a single female to travel the way you two do with a budget of around 2K US dollars per month?
New subscriber here! I live the same nomadic lifestyle as you guys, have the same birthday week and will be in Vietnam this week. My fingers are crossed that are paths will cross! Any meetups planned with subscribers? I enjoy your channel thank you for sharing it with us 😊.
Can you share about your yearly tax filing? How hard is it with the stocks income and investments? And the income from RU-vid? Love your channel and contents! You two are inspiring!
Maybe I'm negative about myself, but I always think that the niche I know a lot about will be the one that's not good for RU-vid. This makes me very hesitant to sign up for your course, even though it is very reasonably priced. I've checked out your course page at least three times already. :)
@@GroundedLifeRetirementTravel I'm a band director and I tell Bible lessons. @BlackOakBibleClub ...and some other things, but those seem the most plausible for my time.
Ok that's super interesting. You may not know we also have a channel called ngmmodeling with 65k subs. The band director is basically the same premise. We forget that not all people have access to private lessons, so they go online to look. "How to march" etc... is probably widely searched. But it would take a band director to run that channel. Otherwise there are several "learn to play the flute" etc... channels doing well. The channel would not make as much $ due to the subject matter, unless you could direct videos at the parents somehow, but if done well would probably be successful.
I love your channel... just bought your course. What's your opinion on restarting a RU-vid channel? I have 2.5k subscribers... still get views and comments but haven't posted in under a year.
I am curious what your monthly expenses are for your "brand", not the travel. Expenses for hosting, cloud storage, if you have paid support, design editing support, software, analytics, etc. I feel it takes a time and money to build a quality brand with connected resources out side of RU-vid so I was very curious.
It's not much because we do everything ourselves, Rob was a photographer, web designer/graphic designer before this. So the costs would be web hosting, cloud storage for the video clips, we use both GoPro cloud and Google. Then the Adobe software for editing. I think the clouds run $300 a year combined
I'm so inspired by you and was seriously thinking about buying your course but I'm introverted and feel very awkward in knowing people will be watching me. Any thoughts/advise? Does the course include anything on camera presence?
It does talk a little about that, our journey in getting more comfortable. We found that doing live streams helped us feel more comfortable in the taped videos. You can't start over in a live so it kind of trains you in a way.
@@GroundedLifeRetirementTravelLove the unintentional pun there: "it kind of trains you"😆 ... makes me think of your GREAT rail trip videos, from the U.S. to Asia to Europe.
Theory: It's because the eyeballs that watch financial channels like yours are expensive eyeballs. Coveted eyeballs. Ad rates charged vary with the value of the audience. I know this as a tech writer with a history in this business, long ago. Also, most people don't understand the nature of exponential growth. These growth curves are classic, seems to me. Thanks for sharing the path forward. Robert in NYC.
