oh god han, as much as I know we have all missed you, absolutely nobody can fault you for the time off you needed to take. whike you were gone i found myself just rewatching your vids because i love them 🥰 the amount you care for your horses is incredible. I had a similar instance where my horse completely changed on me almost overnight and it took 3 vets and a chiro to finally find out what's going on, so I felt good on the sense I at least knew him well enough to see something no one else did.

Girl you deserved a break. Well done for persevering with it. I had a real rough year with both of my horses. My old boy was very sick and wracked a vet bill of god knows what and my ridden horse through her back out and got an abcess at the end of the year. We move to a private yard in feb of this year and I rode her for six days a week for about six weeks and she was loving it and I was loving it... and then her shoulder blew up and it all came to a stop :( She is okay and I have my vet physio coming to her at the end of the month but its so incredibly disheartening. I am so so glad that you and Peach are able to get back to work no matter how minimal. Love your videos and your horses

I feel you! I have been through the exact same. I bought my 7yo TB mid last year and he went lame at the start of the year. Multiple vet visits and false start diagnosis issues we finally have an SI injury diagnosis after a $3k scintigraphy bone scan 🤦🏻‍♀️. Anti-inflammatory injections in his SI appears to have had no effect. $7,500 in vet bills, 4 months and he is absolutely no better so I’ve pretty much accepted I have a retired 7 yo. I also can’t afford a second horse either so I guess we are both retired. I feel you so much. Everything in this video is my last four months! Good luck with 🍑

I don't even know you Emma, but still, I'm so sorry for such bad luck. Such a shame & also a shame about so much $$$ with no results. Did any of the Vets recommend HydroTherapy? Sending you 🙏 that maybe "time" - like a lot of time off - may heal your baby. I heard of a woman that thought her horse had to be retired & so she did just that. 3 yrs. later, her retired boy had made a miraculous recovery. His jumping career was over, but she was able to trail ride him again!

Just for anyone watching this, headshaking doesn’t have to mean retirement. There’s many things to try and it’s different things for different horses but you can treat the symptoms and usually have a rideable horse.

Oh man I really feel you. 💜💜 My 14 year old mare might have to be retired (and we don't even want to talk about the other worst case scenario that is looming.) She had a bad acute laminitis case from Jan-March 2020, recovered and we put her back into ground work and then riding end of May 2020. We were then able to fully work with her for an entire year until she fractured her back splint bone in the herd in June 2021. Had to go in for surgery. In August 2021 her coffin bone lowered and penetrated to the sole. She had to have another surgery for that. Then a keratoma formed in the same hoof in October, which had to be surgically cut out again. 🙃 So she hasn't been worked since June 2021 and been on and off lame since then and kept in a paddock since October 2021 instead of being in a herd 24/7 how she has been for her whole life and I don't know if she will ever even workable from the ground again. She's had X-rays and been in the MRI and they still can't find another reason as to why she is lame. It sucks so much when we don't know what is happening with our beloved pets 🥺

Hi Han, my last horse developed headshaking syndrome so i know what you're going through. there are some short clips of him under my account, it's a devastating condition. It took me almost 10 years to find something that actually helped my horse but by then he had significant neck arthritis and developed neurological issues. presumably from the excessive motion in his neck but who knows really. anyways. i constructed a mask for my horse which eliminated 99% of his symptoms and he was happy to work with it on. what I eventually discovered was that his trigger was tiny particles impacting his nose while he was in motion - a cloud of small insects, even individual grains of sand flicked up from the arena base when we were doing stretching work with his nose down and out. he'd stretch out.. get a sting in the nose from kicking up sand.. throw his head up.. stretch out.. get a sting in the nose.. etc etc. this mask protects the upper and lower side of the horse's face/jaw and provides something of a shield to stop small debris from making contact with the skin, which was a trigger. my horse has now been put to sleep and I don't have another, but I'd be happy to send you the mask if you'd like to try it on your horse? i'm in qld so postage should be quick. If you'd rather not, that's okay. if your horse's headshaking is significantly improved working on grass as opposed to sand, consider it may be small pieces flicking up at him from the ground.

Omg that must have been devastating with all the bad luck, but so happy peach is on the mend. I know what it’s like to have a stretch of bad luck. My horse almost died the day I graduated uni back in 2020 and then had the vet out for tendonitis 4 times within 6 months in 2021 and all from him being silly zooming around his paddock. Definitely not fun for my bank account 😬
@amymati8072

For your horse that headshakes. Look into a drug called cyproheptadine. It has worked wonders for one of my horses who also has headshakers and didn't respond well to any other treatments. It is vet prescribed. Now he is in almost full work, and happy as ever. Yes there are still some days when it's worse, but the good days significantly outweigh the bad ones!

Seriously. Horses!!! I tell ya, sometimes I wonder why I even bother. One of mine started at the end of 2020. Major leg injury, then after it healed she got really sick finally after a few months she got better then she rips her back leg open. And at the end of last year another one of mine sliced around the out side of his hoof down around the heel bulb. It’s honestly one thing after another lately 😔. Hope things keep getting better for you.
