I’ll have to have a look at your modeling channel. I’ve been into slot cars most of my life. I’ve got tracks here in Sydney in our apartment and also have a small 4 lane set in the basement in our place in San Pa Tong, just out past Hang Dong. When I have time, I also like to swim and walk. Fortunately, I found two public pools n Hang Dong, so that’s really good. I also like working on old cars and my father n law there recognised this and had a massive carport added to our place there. He suggested I could enclose part of it, if I wanted to build a larger track. My sister in law uses the basement as her sowing room etc, but she kindly shares it with me. It’s vital to have interests/hobbies in any retirement, but especially if retiring abroad…
Definitely important to have hobbies and purpose in retirement. I wasted my shoulders surfing so now I run, hike, work out, go to meetings, and sponsor guys in AA. My life's pretty full. I'm currently planning on a move to Thailand and Chiang Mai is #1 on the list.
Great video, very true mate, everone needs a hobby in retirement. My hobbies are my RU-vid Channel, and riding around on my little ADV350 discovering this beautiful country, and I also enjoy playing my guitar.
0:51 No graffiti or vandalism! How nice! It seems that the Thai are more respectful than here in the west. 16:17 Great work! Thanks for another interesting vlog Pete! 👍
I haven't retired just yet but I do have hobbies. I enjoy editing videos - usually videos of me singing but some are of places I've traveled to. I also like drawing, writing and photography. Please stay off the motorcycle taxis and take care of your health.
I started into genealogy about 10 years ago and have gotten a bit more serious about it since retiring here. All of my greatgrandparents were Irish so it narrows the scope. Still damn difficult to trace as they were Catholic.
Hi Peter. I'm a fellow Aussie and moved to Chiang Mai 7 months ago. I just joined the Chiang Mai International riders group which go on group riides every second Wednesday. I have a triumph T120. If you are interested I can hook you up with the group leader. The group is not about fast riding but discovery, adventure and enjoyable discussion. I'm working here but the group is mostly made up of retirees like yourself.
Hi Fred, I saw your interview with Fred. Hubby and I took up learning to play Saxophone when we retired, is there a good music scene in Thailand? What about Jazz clubs?
Interesting video thanks for sharing . In my youth I used to build plastic air fix and revelle 2nd world war aircraft. Then having emigrated they got donated and never replaced.my career has been in electronics and radio and as an amateur radio operator. I would like to bring that equipment to Thailand. But not sure if that’s possible. I definitely hear you about needing an interest . At nearly 70 and still working in Australia retirement is a myth here.
Hi Peter, enjoying your channel content. It's good to see a decent level headed guy is nearby in Chiang Mai. Be good to meet up for a coffee sometime, if your up for that? Gary.
