If you have 800.000bht in Thai Bank you can do a Retirement Visa all by yourself, you don't need an agent. Cost of agent.....around 30,000bht....do yourself....1,900bht. Single Re- entry Permit....1,000bht....Multiple....3,800bht.

Hi Do you reaiise that you have to live in Australia two years before receiving OZ pension. They do allow you 26 weeks holiday per year but only in 6 week blocks.
@DiscoveringThailand
@DiscoveringThailand День назад
Yes, I know this. I also heard there are about 12 other countries (not thailand) that you can spend those 2 years in that Australia has some agreement with. Maybe there is a cheaper option than returning to Oz?

Hello, You can leave as often as you like as long as you like, just make sure you get a re-entry stamp before you leave ( at the airport or immigration) .You can be out of Thailand as long as you like just be back for the 12mth renewal. You can get a( Retirement ) Visa that includes multiple entries.

You will also pay twice as much to an agent if you don’t have the 800k and it’s very unlikely they will assist you with renewals if you can’t show you have the same money in the bank next year.

So Australians are raciest for wanting to protect their culture but Thai’s or Japanese are not for protecting their culture? Try buying a piece of land or immigrating to Thailand…you can’t as they protect their own race.

How much does a retirement visa cost and how much does it cost?
@DiscoveringThailand

Good question. I dont know what the extension of stay (retirement visa) cost if you get it without an agent. Maybe someone reading this can answer... maybe just 1900 baht like the other extensions.

Yamaha 125. Rented . Is cheaper than buying (A$100 a month), and I don't pay for rego, insurance, or services. It's great for around here.. in a couple of years, I will be buying a big adventure bike like a Kawasaki 500. Then tour all thailand 😀

If you're using an agent when you get there, they can arrange a thai bank account. You just open a wise account, for example, to transfer funds. Email assist thai visa .. both links in the video description. Also, arrive on a 60 day Visa exemption. Email me if you have other questions.

Pete, after you get the bike ,if you get a chance take a ride up to sticky waterfalls , when I was in Chiang Mai in 2017 someone had recommended it to me ( I never heard of it ) and it was worth the ride ( a little over an hour ) ,.. it’s these waterfalls with white rock that looks slippery but have the texture of sandpaper so it’s not slippery at all, you walk up them in bare feet as the water is rushing down , some parts are pretty steep and there is a rope to hold onto , it was definately a lot cooler than it sounds , and it sounds dangerous but it’s not .

Hi, I’m a recent subscriber , love your Chanel , those are great tips , in regards to your tips on renting a scooter , if I could offer another one to your viewers ,.. if you rent a scooter you can always ask if they’ll take the security deposit in your home countries currency , for example … last winter while in Phuket I rented a scooter for two months, the security deposit was 5000 baht , they allowed me to leave $150 usd instead ( that way , when you turn the scooter back in on the day your returning home you save yourself a trip to the money exchange booth and actually save a little money that you would lose in the process )

Great video mate! It's great that you had the courage to get out there on the skywalk and show your vulnerability to hights and post it on RU-vid. I never had a fear of hights, but at around the 50 years of age mark, I started to develop a minor uncertainty to hights. I don't know if its an age thing, or if I might be developing a fear of hights. Good on you mate.

Could I ask if you were to do this again would you first secure your longer term accommodation arrangements before applying for the retirement visa ? The other question I have is once you have your retirement visa and accommodation can you then obtain a different type of bank account ? I have a Bangkok Bank account that I have had for several years now but can only use for atm transactions, I do use Wise to tap and pay but just curious. And good luck with your future plans, great work offering advice to others. Cheers

Hi, thanks for your question. I had everything required for the visa so I was confident I would get it but yes I was a little concerned about securing a 12 month rental agreement before hand. I would do it the same again. I also had a one way ticket to Thailand and sold everything in Australia, so I was not planning on going back. lol I would think that having all the paperwork inc Visa, rental agreement, Thai Drivers License then opening a different bank account would be no problem. Hope that answers your question :)

I believe the retirement crisis will get even worse. Many struggle to save due to low wages, rising prices, and exorbitant rents. With homeownership becoming unattainable for middle-class Americans, they may not have a home to rely on for retirement either.
