OMG New York has changed so much! it's totally different like in 80's! the meatpacking district was more glamorous and magical when it was full of butchers and butchers everywhere! A friend of Nelson Sullivan said "NOW NEW YORK IS COMPLETELY MESS" and in this video I check it Of all the video documentaries of Nelson that I have seen absolutely no one did it with the quality and the feeling that you have done it Nelson would be so proud of you Thank You So Very Much
@Jesus Enrique Rivas Nelson left us a treasure of information and memories. If it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t have known how different and beautiful things were back then. And it doesn’t stop here, it will continue changing in appearance and culture. Thank you so much Jesus for your kind words. The fact you went and watched all the videos shows how much of a Nelson fan you are. If only Nelson was here to see that 31 yrs down the lane, his work would be connecting fans arnd the world. You are special 💕
The west side highway is actually a highway. In the 70s it was an elevated highway called the Miller highway. I too first came across Nelson Sullivan going through videos of the east village from the 80s on you tube. From there I found the 5 9 th ave project and I was hooked. I must of watched every video at least once. His videos are special because of the innocence of that time. Like the Christmas video at Michael Aligs apt. You don’t see a notorious drug fueled murderer. What you see are just friends in the beginning roles of their lives hanging out. Sharing music ideas and love. Like all his videos they show a bygone era in NYC nightlife that probably won’t ever be back. But people like you who pay homage to him keep his name alive do a great service. You introduce Nelson and his cast of characters to a new generation to enjoy and learn from.
Thank you for the generous comment :) Before I came across Nelson’s videos, that era and those group of people were unknown to me. It opened up a new world that I kept getting drawn to. Nelson’s videos are priceless. Such treasured memories of the time that will never come back.
@@MilesAndHeights I lived through that era in the 80s NYC. The club kid era started in the east Village.Clubs like the Pyramid club , tunnel Lime light etc. They injected this crazy energy into everyplace they went. I’m glad I experienced it. Glad you are too. Keep up the great work!
@@STONEDLIZARD68 wow that would have been such a good time to be alive and at the right place. Did you hear Chelsea Hotel reopened after 10 plus years of renovations?
@@MilesAndHeights Yes. Opened in March. Now fully open. I see it almost every day and think of all the stories those walls witnessed! The architectural integrity is preserved on the outside but inside those old pre war grand apts went through a renovation and didn’t keep much of the original grandness.
Does Good Boy Blackout llc actually own Nelsons footage? I never really thought about who has ownership because its been uploaded to RU-vid for free. Thank you so much for these videos!
@MrShed-in-the-peg Yes the corporation was run by Dick Richards and now managed by his archivist Robert Coddington and David Goldman. They donated all the tapes to a University and uploaded the footage on YT. How lucky are we to watch this piece of history? It’s nostalgia on the next level. Nelson was an extremely talented videographer.
I know Robert Coddington. He is handling all of Nelsons archives since Dick Richards death a few years ago. We talk several times a week. I will tell you a little secret. Keep a lookout for more projects from Nelson including one really big one coming up in a year or two.
@MilesAndHeights yes. He's a wonderful man and incredibly funny and he cares so much about Nelson and his work. They've really done so much for his legacy and estate.
