I remember Silber's bakery closing down for rat infestation issues. Baltimore did have some nice bakeries back in the day - Silber's, Rice's, and Koester's come to mind. One by one they closed up for one reason or another.
Wow! The news I am seeing now going on in Baltimore has been going on for a long time. I didn't know that. This is so sad. The news today is the same as the seventies. Nothing has changed or improved.
I'm not surprised at Baltimore currents situation; the crime is at an alarming rate but it's not a new trend of behavior. I personally know some of the people and familiar with some of the events posted on this site. I love my city but parents, youth, authorities, school system and government need to be held accountable. I knew Andrew Stewart, one of the guys who was falsely accused of murdering Dewitt Duckett. In addition, I knew Dewitt's brother Frankie, who was senselessly murdered a couple years ago.
@vashtibey2530 The city's population was different though in these years. Back then you had about 800 thousand people living in Baltimore City in 2024 it's about 560 thousand that's almost a loss of 300,000 people with a higher crime Rate now something is wrong
They see the problem in their face and all they have is just words and analysis. But nothing concrete that would actually help people. Everything is just by design. And the people who suffer don't have the community to lift them up.
