Me too old man!! It's strange to think about how our kids/grandkids will never see commercials or TV the way we did. I tried to show my 7 year old son some of these vids and he was looking for the 'skip' button at the bottom corner....heh
It's just the fact they're old I recorded shows on VHS, those commercials I recorded were the same ones I hated when watching tv, but now when I look back on them I smile because I remember it and being a kid Record some now, esp local channels so they have your local ads, then rewatch them em again in 10 years, you'll smile
Sugar/glucose is your primary fuel source. If you don't get some your body will break down muscle tissue in an attempt to get it. An inefficient, stressful process. Kids are smart!
Seeing the overhead, birds eye view of the xerox wording on top of that building makes you really appreciate the effort in getting that shot now. There was no drones back then.
I really miss the little IGA in Sunbury Ohio. My mom would take us there to buy Dukes of Hazard cards. I loved the Flintstones Lucky Egg machine. I always saved a quarter for it.
I love the Skol Bandit commercial. "Take a pouch... instead of a puff." You know, because losing your bottom lip is a much healthier alternative to losing a lung, sure.
I remember one of my uncles having a can of skold at my grandma's house once. I was curious to see what it tasted like, so I stuck one of those pouches in my mouth when my grandma wasn't looking. Nastiest thing I ever tasted in my life.
Growing up in my house back in the '80s, "Product 19" was our code for going "#2"... Because you know, that's what it made you do. Bran and regularity was a big thing back then.
Hmm, Black Tower wine, must have been a hold over from the 70’s, lol, I can see it now- “ hey babe, come on over, I’ve got a bottle of Black Tower! “ 😄😄😄
Love how they used a Chinese man to be an Alaska Native. Most people wouldn't tell the difference but I'm from Alaska and it really stands out in that electric generator commercial. Thanks for this upload
These first ones u posted r really good but I still love the whole channel. This decade was so good it's really represented well in the commercials. Thanks for posting :)
I demand a return of Cooky's based on that commercial alone. Dave, you are doing the world a service with your amazing channel! Proud owner of the discontinued DVD. 🙂
@@PrettiMommee34 I was a baby I was born at the tail end of the decade I caught the afterglow of that popculture Hiroshima I could have had the cereal when I was a baby don't know when they quit making it...I do know my older sister fed me waffalos tho and I remember they were good
You’re lucky to have so many quality VHS tape recordings like these. I’ve seen your videos on your capture process, and it definitely helps keep vid quality as clean as possible. You do a great job! 👍
I worked at a TSS store in Elmont NY for the summer of 1984 in the receiving department. Ate at the Snack Bar for lunch every day. Then went to Record World to browse.
@Retro "Jack Goes the Distance" - Mr. Furley accidentally spills this big guy's beer at the Regal Beagle, he calls Furley stupid, Jack defends Furley and this guy challenges Jack to a boxing match in a local gym.
I always wonder what the actors in these old commercials are doing today; how many are alive, how many still act, how many have regular jobs etc, etc. Especially the Oscar Meyer kid.
1984- Rise of the Yuppies & Baby Boomer cult of super luxury consumerism. Champagne, BMWs, investment firms, early computers, Reaganomics. This was when this decade started to suck big time.
P C don’t forget the clothes, all the designer wear , the Polo and Izod wear, Brooks Brothers suits, the jewelry and watches, all to make you feel like you were better than the “ have nots” and look down on lesser people, I can say I was guilty of loving all that back then in my 20’s in the 80’s ..
Izod Lacoste polos were well made & looked good. Paired w/501s & Top Siders & you just were comfortable. In college & 1985 was best. year. ever. Even today's smart phone couldn't make it better.
German wines really made a push back then. I wasn't old enough to drink, but my parents thought getting a Rhine wine was pretty classy. Might also have been my mother was doing research and tracked down her Swabian ancestry.
I'm not saying that tobacco doesn't cause cancer, but I couldn't help but notice that lung cancer is much more prevalent in heavily developed and heavily sprayed parts of the country, including the area between Minnesota and Louisiana concentrated at the mouth of the Mississippi, and in and around the N. Eastern megalopolis. I think a lot of pollution and pesticide deaths are being blamed on tobacco. Now that people aren't smoking as much, they're trying to blame the sun. _"This farmer got skin cancer on his arm. We're gonna ignore the shit he sprayed on the dirt he handles and blame it on solar radiation."_ I may be mistaken, but I think tobacco and cotton are among the most heavily sprayed crops.
17:38 Another voice-over by the great Peter Thomas. 7:03 Florence Warner is the main singer in this Cheerios commercial. 13:54 The lighting in this commercial is such an advertising cliche. LOL! 19:01 Len Gochman on the voice-over for Delta.
Yeah...wish the NJ Generals held on 'till '87. Would've been interesting to see NJG v. NFL during strike season. Flutie was QB in '83 & shocked NFL when Herschel Walker passed up NFL Draft & signed w/Generals. Would've put up a good fight.
Holy fuck...that wisbone commercial got me! I don't even eat salads!! (Till now) Nvm...I guess wishbone folded under Kraft, and was sold to Johnson & Johnson. No more cucumber bacon. It's 2020!!!!! Where's the TIME MACHINES we were promised?!
