Retro Fabric Store ASMR 🧵✂️ Cutting Fabric, Crinkly Patterns, Soft-Spoken Customer Service 

I’m a 64 year old man who’s first ASMR experience is going to a fabric shop with my Mother to get curtain material I would be about 6 years old. 58 years later…… Thank you so much for this, you will never know the memories it brought back.

Whenever my mother would take me with her to JOANN Fabrics to get what she needed to make blankets or get yarn for her crocheting, I used to love watching the ladies cut the fabric and listen to them speak so softly. I always looked forward to that interaction--whether it was with us personally or watching other customers have their fabric measured and cut. It was like melting. It's the little things. 🤗

Normally I don't like soft spoken ASMR, but this is GOLDEN. I've never heard a voice more suited to soft spoken ASMR. What a queen.

I have lots of good memories of going to the fabric store with my mom when I was a kid. I would “get lost” in all the bolts of fabric and it was an immersion in color and texture. And I LOVED the special sound of the scissors cutting the fabric at the cutting table. Something about the sound of the metal scissors in that groove in the table.

When I was a kid my Aunt Mary travelled to stay with us from the countryside so she could visit the sewing and craft show in town. She let me go with her and I remember her picking out material and being excited to try out different sewing machines. We stopped at a homemade chocolate fudge stall and she bought us some to share. I treasure these memories and this takes me back there. Thanks Sherri!

As someone born in the 90s I appreciate your ASMR a lot. I grew up hearing a lot about how things used to be especially as the digital era took off and seeing how interactions like retail transactions were done is interesting. The attention to detail of your acting and scripts, set designs, props all of it is incredibly thoughtful. Thank you for sharing your ASMR with us!!

I recall my Mom and grandmother both taking me to the fabric store as a child. My grandmother had an old Singer pedal sewing machine. I loved watching her sew and work the wide pedal on that old machine. Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories.

I finally found an ASMR with this theme! It brought back so many childhood memories when I went to the fabric store with my mother and felt ASMR when they cut the fabric on the wooden table. Thank you for this video, it's perfect. greetings from Brazil 💜

In the 60's my Mom made my sister and I matching polyester dresses in pink and yellow for Easter sunday. Mom and Grandma had stacks and drawers full of polyester fabric for sewing cloths!!!😄

The plaid with the poppies would look so nice as a dress. I thought a shirt at first, but then I saw the pattern properly and thought "No, definitely dress." There's only one actual fabric store in my hometown. I remember going there with my mother once, and I don't really remember what for. I was very young. I heard it was still open, so I'm planning on going there when I can and check it out. My grandmother knew how to sew, but I never actually saw her doing it. She wasn't a professional seamstress, but my mother does tell me that when they were younger, my grandmother would make dresses for them on special occasions. They didn't have a lot of money, but would still look nice if my grandmother had a say in it. My mother only does mending jobs, so I'm the first one that actually uses a machine. I'm still very much a beginner, basically self taught through RU-vid tutorials. I made her curtains and cloth napkins.

All of a sudden I’m 5 years old again looking at Halloween costumes in the pattern books at TG&Y while mom was browsing the fabric. Thank you so much for this one. I’ll take some Clove gum, a whistle pop and a pack of baseball cards when you’re done.

I love your videos! This one is extremely relaxing. I think of them as amazing performances you create, write, stage, record...I appreciate all the work. They also make me think of the nature of visual memory. I grew up in this era in a family where all the women sewed and things I don't think remember come flooding back when I see some of the props! I look back and wonder how they had the time to make their own clothes on top of everything else they did.

My Grandmother was a Seamstress in the 50s, 60s and 70s. She loved buying material her whole life. Her house was filled with fabric (we had to sell a lot when she passed but I have kept a few special ones to make into some items) and I have memories of being taken to fabric shops when she was looking after me as a child in the 90s. It was wonderful to see what her experience in one of her favourite places would have been like earlier in her life. Thank you :)

My mom sewed a lot of my clothes in the 70s we'd go to TG&Y to get fabric. I always loved the sound of the ladies flipping the roll of fabric on the cutting counter and then the sound of the scissors cutting through the material. Great memories ❤

Another great one Sherri! The pattern & zipper packages & scissors sounds oh my!! My sister worked in the sewing department at a large department store back in the day. She made us both clothes she was a great seamstress. My favorite she made me was an aqua corduroy skirt & jacket. I got so many compliments on it. I was in the 10th grade. Thanks for taking me back to those happy memories. 😊

This was suggested to me today and WOW the memories. My Mom loved sewing and made my Halloween costumes and my prom dress herself. Among many everyday things. This is WONDERFUL. Thank you!

Delightful, Sherri! I see in many of the comments how many good memories this brings back for your viewers, myself included. I grew up with a mom and a grandmother who sewed, so these sounds are all part of the "fabric" of my childhood. One of my favorite triggers is the sound of the scissors biting through the fabric on the cutting table! It's such a productive, industrious sound; and makes you wonder what the sewist plans to make with it. Do you sew yourself? If not, you had me convinced that you do, lol! I've often wondered if you sew many of your vintage outfits for the videos? The gum display is a hoot! Where did you ever find that?? Amazing prop! I also love the sound of writing on the paper roll board...the tinny sound of the board along with the scratching of the writing...chef's kiss! Hope you had a blessed Easter, Pam P.S. Oh, thank you for this video. I am in my 70s and I miss so much the fabric stores of old. Before I knew about ASMR, I knew I loved spending time in fabric stores. I would just sit and look through the pattern books while soaking up the sounds that I know now were triggers. Also, thank you for doing what I call “read” ASMR. Many of the new posts are unpleasant and/or disturbing. Not sure how these people decided to glom on to ASMR.

The beeman's gum rack on the counter took me way back to childhood. Except it would have been Wrigleys here lol. Lovely video - your props are always amazing

I’m 69 and my mother was first a nurse, then became an English teacher, but was also a wonderful seamstress. I spent many hours in fabric stores with her as she looked through patterns and fabric. I can still recall the smell. This is a lost art. A bygone era.

The absolute most boring shopping experience with my mom was JoAnn Fabrics here in the burbs of CLEVELAND, Ohio when I was little. Oh, how I loathed it! 😂 I like your vids. Im just laughing at my miserable experience. Now im going to restart this and go to sleep. Love your voice!
