Let's take a 30-year-old Kina Kilauea hardtail mountain bike, it's super light! It has come with a few issues, but again we bought this one for a steal.
We are not going for a modern twist of a 1 x 10 drive train, but we will get new wheels, and all other parts to keep this classic bike as standard as I can, let's fix all the issues and make a usable MTB that has tons of potential because this one is going to be added to my collection.

I don't paint due to living in an apartment plus I don't know what I'm doing lol. Not to mention I don't think it's necessary most of the time. @@the1bikeguy

Nice 1996 Kona Kilauea mate love a old kona, ive got a few myself theres just something about them they just ride great in my opinion….ive got a 1995 Kilauea i rebuild back to original spec earlier this year… oh and its pronounced KILLA- WAY-AH buddy hope that helps and cant wait for the rebuild 👌👍

Sweet mate, just doing a Kona myself, got a set of 1995 Magura HS33s, you can't beat hydraulics 😃

I did think about adding disc brakes and converting it.. but decided to keep this one as standard as I can 😊

That's why I like the HS33's, they're rim brakes and they fit straight on the bosses. @@the1bikeguy

@@TheElbrasso I have gone for a set of super light rims, I wanted to add a cassette and get rid of the free hub, cheap and cheerful rims but not disk :(

Ive rebuilt a few freehubs in my days and its not that hard. Pre pandemic i ordered a freehub tool off ebay for $6 and its awesome. The freehub just requires about 70 1/8 inch bearings and some phil tenacious oil. Something to do whilst watching utube lol

The name you said was interesting but wrong. You would have to type it into Webster’s dictionary and listen to the audio recording to hear how it is pronounced. Living on the west coast of North America or having been to Hawaii would make it familiar.
