Almost every smoke alarm commercial, or commercial featuring smoke alarms that I could find within the depths of RU-vid- all ranging from the 70s to the 90s all compiled into one video. Enjoy!
Nice ! Also, that British Black and Decker ad answered a question I wondered for a long time: I've always wondered if Europe ever had smoke alarms with squealer horns and the answer is yes ! I've been wondering this a lot since a small general store (located on the ground floor of an apartment building) near me has a very old and yellowed BRK/First Alert smoke alarm on their ceiling (and a much newer commercial smoke detector right next to it. The old BRK is a standalone residential unit where the much newer one is tied to the building's fire alarm system)
Nice!!!!! Wow William Conrad (Cannon, Jake And The Fatman) do sure did alot of First Alert commercials from the late 1970's all the way to the early 1990's. He passed away in 1994. The effective "This sound could save your life' followed by the sound of the classic SA76RS made them unforgettable plus the GE Home Sentry one at 2:30 I do remember from my childhood. (thanks for posting that memory). Seeing that as a 4 year old had me running out of the room but now I find it interesting and yes that was effective as anything back then was. That Black And Decker one is neat although I never knew B&D made models like that that far back and wow that is a low pitch too for the alarm. This is definitely a another goldmine of old smoke detector commercials and even PSA's!!!
I've never seen a smoke detector with a light on them (other than the little LED) before. Wonder if that's still a thing or if not why they discontinued it?
I remember a commercial/PSA showing a GE or Black and Decker alarm melting above a fire without sounding. I’m thinking it was meant to stress the importance of checking the battery. It traumatized me! I never wanted to watch TV because I was horrified it would come on 😳
Question: Is it legal to watch this video? I heard somewhere that simply watching tv clips on youtube is illegal and worth hundreds of dollars in fines.
Absolutely 100% legal. Old clips are exempt from copyright laws. And if it was infringing, you'd still have nothing to worry about as it's on RU-vid's hands. By the way people are rarely, almost never prosecuted for simple copyright infringement
The Black and Decker at 5 minutes sounds like a rebranded G.E. I hated that sound. The ones with the higher pitched squealer horns didn't bother me as much.
I think what they're meaning is that the same brand makes the industrial equipment. The theory being if the company is trusted by hospitals to sell equipment on that scale then consumers should put that brand in their home too.
@@BBC600 First alert does not make Industrial alarms, PITTWAY does, though. It's a possibility they meant "pittway" not first alert, as they said it in the video. Companies like notifier, fire lite, system sensor, ademco first alert, such, are all devisions of pittway corperation.
