Absolutely! John Goodman is a VERY big reason why this show was such a success. The whole cast is amazing, of course. But if someone else was playing the role of Dan, besides John Goodman. I don’t know, if it would have been as good. Truthfully, I find it highly doubtful.
It was due to BOTH John G. AND Roseanne Barr = THEY HAD a PERFECT Chemistry TOGETHER, LOL! MY FAV. Episodes (besides the frying pan slam, haha) are Definitely, "Bingo" and "Less Is More", LOL! 😂 😎 👍 🍺🍸 😝 After what ASSH*** Democrats and Liberals did to Roseanne, the Show WILL FLOP (good, haha, Abc DESERVES bad 💩💩)! 😂 😎 👍 😝
billa107 Yep. She actually said at one point that she was excited when she found out that she was gonna be working alongside John Goodman because she was practically in love with him.
Golden Girl I totally agree with you...and I am so excited about Rosanne being rebooted... Common, everyday people who really worked for a living and tried hard to make ends meet could really relate to this show. It was real everyday life & struggles.

Most of us (roseanne was on in my teenage years) remember people like dan and roseanne - a harsh but funny sarcastic woman and an accommodating dude with a sense of humor who would always make a joke when it was needed.
If you listen carefully to the first instance, you can hear the slight delay between contact and the "bang" sound effect that's somehow added either live by a sound tech or later in post-production. John Goodman's reactions are amazing!
What John Goodman does makes Laurie and Roseanne laugh with the beer can after Roseanne hits Dan with a frying pan. The laughter from the audience and Roseanne and Laurie Classic!!

Reminds me of a show from my childhood called Dinosaurs I think and the baby would hit his dad's head with a frying pan and say not the mama every time he smacked him with the pan.
How do they do that??? Is it a fake frying pan that's really soft? Because I see she is actually hitting him with it! Can anyone explain to me? I already know there's sound effects to add in the realistic look, but I'm talking about the actual frying pan hitting his head.
