Bro I said the same thing 🎉 As much as I love Simon, there's nothing better than having him review terrible wrestling! It brings out the best in him lol...
It boggles the mind that Jake is the only guy from that main event still alive. His intoxication on this night is the stuff of legend but the three other guys who had to carry him all went before him. When humanity is long gone, it’ll be Jake The Snake and Keith Richards ruling two waring factions of cockroaches.
My condolences for having to watch this twice, Simon. Maybe you should go and rewatch Wrestlemania X-7 again as a palette cleanser to cheer yourself up.
Stan Lane becomes Stan Lee, while Lou Albano becomes Lou Albino, so maybe Simon should have simply altered everyone's name for this video under the "The names have been changed to protect the innocent" excuse...
Dutch Manatee, Randy Rosenbroom, Shamu, the Mild Samoan, Marvin Janetty, Tony Rodgers, Fred Valentine, Sensational Terri, Joe Steele, Tuco Scorpion, Julian Fantastic, the Bushwalkers, Nicholas Volkoff, the Iron Squeak, Tully Brancher, Abdullah the Baker, One Gang Guy, Jimmy Snuka (no change since he's a murderer), Rob Orphan Jr., Doug the Slug, Tim Neidhart, Godzilla Dunphy, and Yoshi.
I dont want you to suffer Simon, but I never knew how much I needed your comments on "Worst Wrestling shows" I laughed so much i nearly choked to death, it was amazing.
To THE MOST ELECTRIFYING SPORTS ENTERTAINER IN ALLLLL OF RU-vid- you deserve 10 GOLDEN UPS for reviewing this dumpster fire pay per view a SECOND TIME 😭😭😭
So I have two recommendations so far. . .there's the Royal Rumble 2003. . .and Summerslam 2004. . .but then again, since we just had bad blood. . . Let's start with the 2003 version of that. . . Goldberg vs Jericho amd Nash vs HHH Hell in a Cell. Thank You Simon. . .
It's been 25 years since that trainwreck? I'm feeling old. I watched it live on PPV back then. While this is pretty disastrous, the story behind it is fascinating. Kim Justice did a fantastic and updated doc on this a while back, getting comments from some of the folks that put it together. Worth a watch, if you're curious.
Sad to see that Neidhart was reduced to this; I thought he was still with WCW in 1999, but I guess his contract must have ended. Ironic that Yokozuna and Jake were teamed, given that Rodney had earned my undying love by "killing" off the "Damien the Snake" gimmick, which was at least 5 years past its time when WWE finally dropped it. (Yoko sat on the bag and squashed Damien, that was the story.)
One positive about watching this show: contrasting Jake Roberts from this as to how he is today. An absolute inspiration to anyone who is struggling and wants to change.
It was 6 years since you did this?! Or am I being literal? I watched your ups and Downs of Extreme Rules 2019 a few weeks ago. Time flies aand things change. Summerslam 1992 please
Omg are they trying retro ups and downs again, I know Simon is already really busy and I feel kinda selfish asking for more Simon videos and content but please bring back all the cancelled ups and downs
I wish there was a way to go back in time and tell everyone who watched that show that Jake Roberts would be alive (and relatively well!) 25 years later. I doubt a single person there would have believe it.
1:10: Man. That's kinda like being half-blind and finally going to a pay-per-view---premium live event (a Royal Rumble, no less) having no idea you won't at least be able to hear the commentators...
I watched this on PPV back in 99 with my good friend. Its so bad thatvive had to watch it a few times sinthen to remind myself how bad wrestling can really get. Its entertaining in the way you can't take your 16:19 eyes off of a car wreck. You just have to look at it.
Why? Why would anybody go to an old school Wrestling event without knowing what's going on? Rather than Why? Let's go with HOW! How do ya not know George "The Animal" Steele!?!
And there was actually some talent there too! MTV couldn't figure out what they wanted and kept picking with it, it didn't work well with the demo so... same thing happened in Lucha Underground
NO ONE should be FORCED to watch this twice, my definition of "torture" for sure! I only watched it once, just to say that I watched it & I am NOT proud of that. Be Warned: Only watch it if you want to see what all the "hype" is about & they are understating the god-awfulness of this farce. I love 2ColdScorpio, he is one of my all time favorite Wrestlers. But he shows up with a Championship Belt that as far as anyone can tell DOES NOT EXIST, he must have gone to Walmart to buy a belt since it means NOTHING! I am so glad that Jake got his life back together since he was an awful, awful mess back then.
