Nice video, and nice to see someone who takes care of his consoles. I see so many consoles that "Have no wires" or "Not tested" that look like they have been kicked around, but it's nice to see some good tips on how to turn them around and show them some TLC :) Thumbs up thanks for the nice video :)
Thats not the real way to clean it. The real way is to take the system apart. Pop out the buttons (If a spring is there take it out),Wash it with warm water and soap and let it dry. Or if you want you can also teardown the whole system and clean the bottom plastic. Or if you also want to you can take a can of compressed air and spray it around. May not me alot of dust but it'll improve the odds that it'll last longer.
Don't forget to grease the gears and all moving components while the system is apart and since soap and water really doesn't deep clean either make sure to use those jumbo cotton balls with 70% alcohol to remove yrs off the system instead of just making it look pleasing to the eye. If you're dealing with a white or beige colored plastics like a Jp Duo- R or DreamCast as example or even non-textured smooth grey carts like N64 then switch over to a moist wet microfiber with a tinge of Ajax after the alcohol (do not let the towel dry or apply too more than a spoon of Ajax because cleaning will turn into buffing the surface) and lightly wipe down, if it's yellowed then Hydrogen Peroxide with UVs as usual unless you have some Bblonde hair dye lying around. Depending which surface or system you're cleaning there is a best suitable method to clean + restore and there's (notice I didn't say clean, wear down and destroy like most other vids out there) that particular surface and that applies to anything in a game collection from cart labels all the way to cardboard boxes. You could get away with *deep* cleaning a Playstation 1s surface using only soap & warm water if your using a proper sponge with Dawn dishwashing detergent.. one of the best/strongest yet safe soaps but that's still not gonna beat the deep down clean you'll get by using alcohol & cottonballs the reigning champ of real deep cleaning & disinfecting unless your cleaning a white system in which case you should follow-up wiping down with a wet microfiber (or terry cloth) with Ajax which will not only clean but prevent yellowing...I use this method on white system every 2 or 3 months whenever dusting off to keep the surface clean since what causes yellowing is also a buildup of temperature changes that causes condensation to sit on systems, simple polluted air coming in from outside, touching the system with unclean hands, smoking and non breathing of plastic like when sitting inside a warm closet and uVs from the sun. There's a difference between a youtube professional and a real professional through yrs of experience in all types of surface restorations that actually works towards reversing the process from old to new as opposed to just "making it look better" to the eye, the surface should look and feel original. Once you start micro sanding, buffing certain surfaces with the wrong products or using the wrong cleaning agents you're already on your way to making the item non-original no matter how good it looks from a distance. There's plenty of idiots who jump on RU-vid including well known RU-vidrs with high volumes of subs claiming to be professionals but instead have little experience and misguide the masses towards amateur work that damages collectables.
