There was a coleco factory near where i grew up in Amsterdam Ny and my uncle worked at the landfill. I remember he brought home sealed boxes of the entire line of Sectaurs. Including the Hive and the ride on "vehicles"
This was a blast from the past. never seen the cartoon but i read some of the comics and had a couple figures. my dog chewed up the weapons i had, was really sad about that lol
I had Dargon and the dragonflier. It was such an awesome toy made a lot of my friends very jealous even though none of them like Sectaurs. I just rebought Dargon today, great to have him again after 30 years.
This video freakin' rocked!!! I only have 3 of them. I wouldn't mind getting the other figures that I'm missing. I'm not interested in the puppet vehicles or the mini bugs, just the figures. And I totally agree with you about the 3.75 inch figures. Yes, part of the magic is in that 7 inch scale.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 had them as a kid, I always wished I had kept them. By luck I scored almost the entire line near mint condition (and cheep) a few years back,
I have commander waspax and zach. As a kid I liked that they had holsters. I always wanted General Spidrax but I was so into GI Joe and they didnt scale with anything else I never got more figures. The marvel comic wasnt bad.
Sadly I only had the two main guys and their bugs but I can back you up on the legs breaking near the ball joint. It really makes me mad that I was so damn careless with my toys when I was growing up. I still have the evil General guy but his leg is broken at the top. The only thing that really bugged me about them though was that they didn't really match the scale of any of my other figures, so I never played with them at the same time.
I was creeped out by these things. The bug faces were detailed and scary. I also cringed at the idea of humans mating with insects to birth hybrids. But I was intrigued by the opalescent/pearlescent metallic finish. The show let me down because they couldnt/didn't even try to duplicate that finish in the cel animation. My younger brothers gleefully threw them into their battles with MOTU action figures though.
These were my most desired toys when I was 5 or 6 (I was born in 1980). I saw the ads on tv, but never actually saw one in real life, or so I think. Although I totally forgot about the glove aspect of the toy lol.
This toy line freaked the shit out of me as a kid and while the toy line didn't involve a wasp as far as I can tell the reason it freaked me out is because of an incident that involved a wasp... And while I don't collect transformers anymore I couldn't have waspinator in my collection for the same reason when I was collecting transformers.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 I was 10 (I'm 46 now and still remember it like it was yesterday).. It was a lovely summer Saturday and I was out on my bike and my brother and his buddy on their bikes started chasing me.. And like a clown I was screaming with my mouth open and a wasp flew into my mouth and stung me in the mouth... And when I say it stung me IN the mouth I DO mean IN the mouth and NOT ON the mouth.. It stung me on the roof of the mouth and as a result I'm terrified of wasps to this day.
@@Kickback-dm7zt I was stung by one in the hand through thick gloves so I sprayed it with poison and took care of that problem but in the mouth would have been 100 times worse!
@@tydiriumhanger1320 there is only 1 way to describe a wasp /yellow jacket /hornet (all variants of "wasps" ) and that's " the spawn of Satan"... They serve no useful purpose and are nasty evil little buggers.
only thing i had close to this for fun catch. dragon fly s grass hoppers spiders & coconut beatle s are fun. catching & locus big flys those were my sectaurs & insectaurs
Boy, was that 1985 when that line came out… I always thought it was 1983 or 84… I always remember he-man and these guys around same time…then it was transformers and gi joe after that. Before all those lines it was Star Wars that kicked it all off. Funny how ya remember your toy time line in terms of years…

So... am I going to have to be the one to tell him that those things on their heads are called antennae and not tentacles or antlers? Insects 101. If you're making a video about an insect toyline you gotta know this stuff man. 😂 But seriously, cool toys. Never heard of them until recently. Another toyline that was never released outside the US. So the limbs break, the antennae snap off and the wings come loose if you breathe on them. Why was this toyline not more succesfull?
it wood not be a failure if Matel got the wright to it thee line wood of survive Matel is selling HeMan figurs it. wood be A great line if Matel took over buying the Comoany matel had there dede’s to but Came back
The thing is that MOTU is a much more popular and well-known toy line. Sectaurs wouldn't sell well on a large scale today. They didn't even do well in the 80's that's why the toy line and cartoon failed back then.
