Yo dead ass I LOVE YOU for collecting these. The history and stories behind these touches close to home on so many ways. This video is everything. Much appreciated sincerely
I remember the day my dad got me the robocop figure. I was maybe 3 or 4. It was the first time I heard my parents argue, because my mum realised my dad had let me watch the movie. Irony was, she had let me watch American werewolf in london around the same time. Question, why was robo always so skinny and small compared to the other figures?
Back in 1988 I got the Kenner ultra police Robocop figure. Back then it was only $7.99. I try to find one mint on card on eBay. They are asking over a hundred dollars. I can only imagine what the neca figures will be going for in about 30 years
Yeah Kenner had kind of a half Silverhawks, half C.O.P.S. thing going on with the secondary officer characters, sort of massive overcompensation to make them as powerful as Robocop lol. The ED-209 turned out pretty good, regret missing it before and now it commands some extra money.🙁 In hindsight I think the line needed more world-building elements than characters, more playsets were needed to sell the roster better. They had the cartoon but you have to build up a character to make them attractive next to Robocop, even Robo's car was cooler heh. Toy Island wasn't as big or well known as Kenner but I think they did a better job with the license, who could predict cap rolls would get thinner but electronic sound still works.
I’ve watched this video twice now because I like seeing all the ones I don’t have and you did a great review on them. My question is, why did they give Lewis such an awful helmet? Why didn’t she get a helmet with an orange visor if they were going for the cartoon? And her cross bow accessory is just laughable. Why did they make these weird decisions when they could have given her accessories from other lines that would have at least looked more similar to what she used in the show. So many strange Kenner decisions. I’ve tracked a few various Kenner accessories from other lines down from YOJoe to make it look more like what we saw in the show.
One of my all time favorite movies but even 25 years later I still can't watch Murphy's murder scene. It is so brutal and it freaked me out as a kid. Great video as usual, it would be cool to see more comparissons to modern versions of the figures however. Do you have a modern ED 209?
Haha 🤣‼️ The Robocop movie was Rated R 🎥 🎞 🍿 Yet they try to find a way to introduce it to children… More recently, other Rated R franchises like Predator & Alien toys are showing up in Walmart… directed @ children. I was one of the youths that viewed the original theatrical releases, back in the 80’s 😱🤣‼️
The robocop ultra force figure line was revolutionary and cool for the time but since toys have evolved so much since then they look outdated and lame by today's standards
