They were great for added personnel in other lines. IIRC, Reinhardt, and a few stormtroopers, with IG88 as a strong arm was a family favorite. They had an Eagle 1, so they were a great Bad Guy team with alien mercenary's.
This is great! Black Hole is one of my favorite figure lines. I’ve never been able to pull the trigger on Humanoid, Bob or Star. Super cool that you have any of those.
Thanks for this. Love this movie so much. And i loved the toys. I had a few of them. Maximilian lasted the longest. I'd like to get at least the bots again, because robots are my jam.
This whole figure line was superb, very accurate / realistic figures, incredible detail, superb articulation. Much better than Star Wars figures. …And don’t get me talking about the rare three of the final wave. Black STAR’s my favourite. Great video thanks. 🇬🇧
As a kid I had Charlie Fizer and maximillian and Dr Durant and had few bubblegum cards and saw the movie when I was 9years old in 1979 a disney sci fi classic before Tron and enjoyed all those toys back when I was a kid and still collecting now.
Great collection here of the movie BlackHole, which was supposed to be getting a reboot by Disney years ago, but nothing since. I liked the laser battles and robots in the film, and dealing with the gravitational pull of the deceased vacuum sun/blackhole. Thanks for the showcase, Mike!
Great video; I thought the special effects for the black hole itself were pretty good. I remember seeing the movie as a kid and being scared about getting sucked into a black hole.
Excellent video, very interesting. Saw the film when it came out and hated it but for some reason still bought 4 or 5 figures! Barely ever played with them they were so dull. I also hated how spindly they felt and the multiple POA just made them a pain to play with.
I had Maximillian, I believe I bought him for 25 cents at a yard sale maybe around 82 or 83, his vac metal arms were pretty rubbed off. It's great that you have loose figs in great condition, but kinda sad they didn't get played with. The Black Hole line went to the Island of Misfit Toys.
Ohh man I had the dukes boys and the general lee that had a roof popup to put them in and I had the lone ranger and his horse. Before my time but we had the white elephant ❤
I looked at this movie as I got older as more like a sci-fi version of The Fall of the House of Usher. It had some issues, but it was a favorite to rewatch over and over again on VHS. Even now I've seen it more times than I'm comfortable admitting on Disney+. The figures were just a TAD too brittle in the thumbs, but the articulation couldn't be beat, Mego was definitely on to something when they made them more poseable and playable than Kenner and Fisher Price contemporaries. I had the whole first wave of these figures. Pizer was my favorite, Holland was always in charge of this faction of my figures. Dr. Durant was a secondary Corellian character in my stories. Not scruffy looking but looked juuuust enough like a Han Solo or Bespin fatigue Solo that it passed muster. Reinhard spent a lot of time with Dr. Huer talking about those bratty younger action figures. Harry and Vincent didn't get a lot of use, Maximillian was kinda useless. Series two we only ever had a sentry or two. They were cool, but limited as troop builders. They were part of a great and magically creative time in my life, and I am thankful Mego made these and I had them.
I've tried to watch this movie like 5 or 6 times since it came out back in the day but it was so boring I could never finish it. I remember one of my friends had some of the toys and I thought they were cool looking. Maybe I'll try and sit through it someday 😂
I was introduced to Black Hole the same way i was introduced to Star Wars. Through product marketing. Bed sheets with Star Wars and metal Lunch Boxes with The black hole. I was a more than a little disappointed when I finally saw the Black Hole Movie. I saw Silent Running first and thought it was actually a better movie. Kids... Or am I confusing it with Forbidden Planet?
