The 24hz 4K mode is probably for upscaling DVD movies, if I had to guess, because theatrical movies are shot at 24fps. Most movie theater projectors are 48hz and display each frame twice. If that's not Mike Chi's intentions, then I have no idea what the 24hz mode would be for.
it would be perfect if the player outputted 24 or 48hz, but if the player still outputted 60hz regardless of content, then 24fps movies will be even more choppy because the 3:2 pulldown wasn't removed. i think he wanted to see how far he could push the fpga, he teased a 4k60 mode but he said it was impossible
@@ENunn Yeah, that's true. I think my blu-ray player has a 24hz mode, but it's hdmi output only. I just got my RT5xPro yesterday so I still have some playing around to do. I might see if I can get it to output 24hz on a dvd, convert to component into the RT5x and see if it looks awesome, lol. I need to get the experimental firmware installed. I actually didn't know that was the case until I saw your video, so thank you for that.
Motion adaptive, Smooth, Off are the best options from my own personal experience from testing PS2 and PS1 games. Unless people like smoothed and sharpened visuals, but to me it looks not as great. There is alot of tweaking one can do also to fix and or make it look worse, which is also fun to tinker with on the Retrotink 5X Pro.
I got the Pro version two months ago, and it is 100% worth it! I may finally do more Twitch streams and upload gameplay videos on YT more frequently from here on out!
The choppiness in the motion adaptive deinterlacing isn't present in firmware version 1.99. You get less options in that version but I prefer the simplicity and the visual quality... Check it out!
My experience with Mike the creator of this product was awful. I checked the shipping price of the smaller 2x to Au and it was a whopping $60 USD! That’s nearly $90 Australian, and near half the price of the product. When I asked why the shipping was ridiculously priced and impractical, he replied to my email with a picture of a clown (calling me a clown is my best guest). I wouldn’t ever deal with anyone with such a condescending and rude attitude. I don’t care how great this products are, rude creators who have no people skills don’t get my money. Try again Mike.
