Back in 2021, I did a comparison of the 2X Pro and 5X Pro right after the 5X Pro's release. My game console set up was more simple back then, with consoles like the SNES, Genesis, and PS1 all using composite cabling. After getting my game consoles all upgraded with newer cabling, and with the 5X Pro getting so many firmware updates, its time to revisit this topic and compare these two devices once again. I've got component cables for SNES, Genesis, GameCube, and even found a way to transform SCART to Component by using an RGB2COMP Transcoder, which does two things: 1) Allows me to run my PS1 through my Extron Switches via component, and 2) Allows me to feed the 2X Pro a level of quality that it normally wouldn't be able to take from the PS1! So that's what we'll be doing: New Side by Sides between the 2X Pro and 5X Pro, now with these upgraded cabling solutions to see what these devices can really do!
The 5X Pro's firmware added so much more than I noted here as well, I just hit some of the highlights. Check out the firmware page to see the full breakdown: www.retrotink.com/post/retrot...

*Important Call-Out: RU-vid's compression does take away a lot of detail that is seen in person that devices like RetroTINK, RAD2X, CARBY, and more output. Bear that in mind with any content containing capture footage from those devices. My commentary and opinions come from the Raw Capture Files and what it looks like on my TV, I can't account for what details are lost to compression until after the video is uploaded.
