fast food is all about consistency, you want to know that at any given time if you order you’ll get the taste and quality you’re craving. It’s why McDonald’s succeeded, they had near perfect consistency, save for an occasional lack of salt on the fries or wtv.
Sonic is only good if the cook is having a good day. I’ve worked in a sonic kitchen before and let me tell you, it was dirty, roaches, people not wearing gloves plus not washing their hands every 20 mins, and tons of cooks just not caring about even messing up food on purpose. If you ever order from sonic and your meal is Terrible, cold Or messy it was totally on purpose. Even some sonic managers don’t care and let shit like that slide. Lmao definitely a hit or miss fast food .
Sonic is dope!! Always used to go in South Carolina on summer holidays with the fam, we’re Canadian so outside roller skate waitresses was the coolest thing ever
as a former sonic employee. Use ranch or BBQ for mozzarella sticks, cinnabon frosting for the pretzel, and don’t sleep on the onion rings, it’s the only thing made fresh in store. (honey mustard for onion rings)
Nah we used to sprinkle the cinnamon from the shakes on the buttered pretzel and that was the best snack to have after a long line, wish I thought of your idea though
Each sonic is different depend on its crew thats running it. It really takes a good crew to run a proper sonic drive in. I had the pleasure of working for one and I realized what makes sonic so good is that it has great hang over food.
I agree wholeheartedly. You have to have a good manager in the kitchen AND one up front. A lot of them run just one manager and wherever they are not at suffers for it. Also there's not really a unified system for doing everything, there's the internal audit guidelines but that goes out the window after the stores had its audit for the period, most of the time.
My wife and I worked at sonic for a few years, her at 2 locations, myself at 3. I can tell you location matters. We both trained and worked years at the best in our market. People drove from across town to come to our location, past 3 other stores in some cases. The last store we worked at had a bad reputation for service and food quality, In the several months I was there we got too many compliments on the increase in food quality to count. I think the big problem is there's no unified system for things. Some stores full cook their burgers and throw them in a steam table, some half cook them and then full cook them to order, which makes a world of difference. Also if the mozzarella sticks don't have that salty juice that shoots out when you bite into them, get your money back.
The two we have here in my town in AZ are always really good. The beef is seasoned really good tbh! At least down here in Southern AZ! We even have a local favorite that has green hatch chiles and some other stuff! It is insanely good imo! Glad you gave em another shot🤘🏼. The workers at both here are fucking amazingly nice too
Pa is always good too. Unfortunately my closest sonic closed due to management ( food was always S+ but you had to wait 20 minutes or more). I always waited that’s how good it was but so many people would just drive off to taco bell across the street. On the plus side I got lots of free food from them for about 4 months.
@@Thisplaceisaprison3912it’s crazy to hear they give y’all northerners better food and service then where it all started my girlfriend was the manager of a sonic in TN for 8 years and everything they serve is made in a microwave besides the liquid milk carton eggs people down here hate sonic 😂
sonic’s finger foods are far better than their burgers or sandwiches or whatever else they have. the popcorn chicken, mozz sticks and onion rings are elite. tater tots there are fire too
Glad I’m not the only one who loves sonic or hates it depending on where you go. Even in the good places man sometimes they’re pretty bad. At one point I had gone to sonic pretty frequently and every single time they would get my order wrong! It was so frustrating. I wanna say only 2 times they have gotten my order completely right. But I still go back hoping they will get my order right for once because their food is just so good on a good day!
Sonic used to be my FAVORITE place to go. It's a one stop shop. Appetizer, drink (many different options), main entree, &&& dessert. Sonic has gotten so sloppy & inconsistent. I can't anymore.

Nah man I think the burgers are mid at best. You want a real burger you go to Wendy's, Five Guys, or In N Out. Honestly I think Jack in the Box has slightly better burgers than Sonic.
Sonic is ubiquitous in Texas. I visited someone in Anaheim 11 years ago and went to a Sonic. The service took forever and the food was cold! I've been kept waiting at Sonic in Tx, but the food was warm.
It's crazy how effort and caring about doing your job well can make the same ingredients taste that much better, but even in my small town one McDonalds is trash and the other is top notch.
I finally tried it and it was so mid :/ I was looking forward to butter burgers and custard for so long. I got their custard of the day and it wasn’t thick at all like good midwestern frozen custard should be.
@@dakarai47 I mean it didn’t though lol, I was looking forward to trying Culver’s for literally 5 years straight, so believe me my expectations were in the right place. Maybe it was a bad location or something, but the food and custard was 100000% a miss. The custard was thin and watery, the butter burger tasted near identical to a whopper but without that kinda weird fake charcoal flavor Burger King patties have. Quality of ingredients seemed better than Burger King but I was expecting Chic-fil-A level freshness. Chili was pretty good but was just your average Wendy’s style fast-food chili. What do ya want me to say? I’ll mark it down to it being the location since it was my first time. My whole fams from the Midwest and I’m one harsh judge when it comes to midwestern custard, believe me when I say I was surprised when I discovered their custard didn’t even seem like custard. Maybe this location did legit mess it up because their custard was as thin as normal ice cream and I know Culver’s is known even by midwesterners for having good custard so I can’t imagine it normally being that mediocre.
Honestly a lot of places it depends on how fresh and well the food is made. When I choose to eat out I have my same locations I know always are on point lol.
5:02 that church served also as a school, where my husband's grandma studied in Camarmeña, a town of nearly 5 houses in Asturies. The view is mind blowing 🥰
Bro their burgers are mid to below-mid everywhere. They’re like Dairy Queen, you don’t go there for the food. Sonic drinks, slushes, ice cream and milkshakes are where it’s at 👌
I’d like to amend that the jalapeño poppers (cheddar cheese), chili dogs and tater tots are bomb too 🤤 Onion rings taste like vanilla though so avoid those unless you like sweet onion rings
@@kabob21the onion rings depend on location. They're made in-store. Sometimes they're sweet, other times they're not. They just get different batter sometimes. I know this because I worked at a sonic for 2 years.
Just because he ate it all and paid it, doesn't mean it's a 10 out of 10 for him. It's just better not to waste food. He gave a rating for taste factor
HowKevEats: This (a different and better Sonic location) is the greatest comeback in history. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parkers/Spider-Man’s coming back in Spider-Man: No Way Home: Hold my beer.
So just letting you know, that we get Sonic on occasion out here in Albuquerque and I am from New York and my wife is from New Jersey so we used to have it in different locations back in both places where we both lived separately and together but the Sonic out here near us is very good!! We got it last night, and I had one of their new smokehouse griller burgers, which was terrific with something they call “comeback sauce” which gave it a nice smoky kick, and I had a side of crispy onion rings, which are always great from there… And my wife and I split one of the pretzel twists but we used honey mustard on it not the cheese sauce so definitely better- and my wife enjoyed her double cheeseburger as well plus she got a strawberry banana milkshake which I tasted, and it was out of this world!! 😋
Sonic's burgers are a reasonably good recreation of a typical 1960's--early 1970's non-chain drive-in burger (think Frosty Freeze or Dairy Queen, before "Brazzier"). I'm sure won't be popular with kids who grew up on In N Out burgers or Hardees. Every once in a while, I get a nostalgic yearning for that old school drive-in burger taste, and Sonic nails it for me.
