that feeling when it's dusk and getting cooler than an hour ago but you can see your destination just ahead of you must be the best warmest feeling.

Man, it was a nice feeling to see the light of the campsite in the distance.

I'm rewatching all the Japanese content. I have a trip coming up in January and am hoping to get a few day hikes in. Watching you guys carrying all that camera gear up mountains fills me with respect for you. I just carry the necessities and that can be hard enough once you factor in the weight of water.

As soon as I saw how bright that sun was I had a feeling the sunset at the end of the day would be amazing. It did not disapoint. I can only imagine how hard that hike was Robby. Ya'll look completely beat. XD That cabin at the end is like the ultimate RPG like experience. You get to the end of a tough dungeon and you've got a warm meal, a nice place to stay and an amazing view. It doesn't get any better then that.

Lovely episode fellas! Could really feel everything. Robby slowly hiking up and talking was hilarious. And the little cabin with asahi at the top lol. Nice little treat with probably one of your more rewarding views. Would love to go hiking with you guys someday!

I'll tell ya 2 things will make your hillclimbs a coupla notches easier. First is flex your ankle (like germán crampon technique) so you keep your heel down as much as possible, and find the path of least lift (avoid upsteps for low step-arounds). Second is pressure breathing. In thru the nose, out gradually thru pursed lips. With a little practice you'll find yourself outhiking almost everybody.

Cloudrunner that jolly music disguised how hard the climb must have been. it looked like a hard slog to get to the cabin on time for sunset. well-done guys

Excellent Video! Now that was a good climb! The packs and camera gear must have made it much harder since it looked like it was all uphill. When we hiked up to Cloud Peak, Wyoming last summer the thin air made it a lot more difficult. The last 2,000 feet was rock scrambling up to the 13,167 ft summit. If you haven't yet checked out the video you guys should watch it. It would make a good future trip for Adventure Archives. Bob
@AdventureArchives
@AdventureArchives 7 лет назад
Wow dude! 13,167 feet?! Now that is impressive. Makes our climb look like nothing hahaha. And man, I need to lighten my pack so badly. I'm so sick of lifting that thing. -Robby

Man that must be one hella mountain seeing you out breath climbing it! I wonder why Bryan doesnt talk very much in every video, is he shy? Lol "Pasti boleh!" is how you say "You can do it!", Malaysian style haha. Good vlog as always, looking forward for the full hiking video!
@AdventureArchives

+Fara haha nice, now we know a little Malaysian too. And not sure why Bryan doesn't say much, he's just a quieter dude I guess!

That's pretty amazing that there is a cabin at the top stocked with refreshments. How do they get supplies, by people packing supplies up or what? At John Muir Trails, they use horses or mules, but the trails looked too narrow for horses.
@AdventureArchives
@AdventureArchives 7 лет назад
Man, I think just human labor for that cabin. The second campsite though we actually saw how they get supplies in, and they use this engine powered sled basically. The dude stand behinds it and pushes basically this big motorized cart that has sort of like tank treads up the mountain to the cabin.

Did you talk to that guy at the hut up there? Does he live there year round just to rent out the campsite and sell food? That's just so interesting. Wonder if they have that on other Japanese mountains.
@AdventureArchives
@AdventureArchives 7 лет назад
So that guy in the hut we didn't talk to, I think he was a little shy. But we did talk to another guy who works at a similar sort of hut (you'll see in the full episode) and if that hut is the same sort of deal, he works there for a few weeks at a time and then goes back home for a week. So like 3 weeks work, 1 week home, that sort of deal.

Awesome video! You guys said it was 2000m of elevation, which is about what we have where I live in BC. Just wondering how long the trail was for a comparison?
@AdventureArchives
@AdventureArchives 7 лет назад
Ah man, let me see if I can find out, but the trail itself I think was not all that long, which explains the steep climb
@kevinkepler6803
@kevinkepler6803 7 лет назад
Yeah steep hikes get hard pretty quickly. One of the ones here is a 10 km round trip, but over a 2000m elevation gain

Also I really need to find some like minded people to do these adventures with :) It would surprise you how many people won't even think about leaving the modern world behind for a nice old walk and overnighter :( Merry christmas and happy new year guys! :D

how did this compared to Yosemite
@AdventureArchives
@AdventureArchives 7 лет назад
+Adrian Griffin tougher by far. The trail we took on Yosemite was very tough but that one we could like see the end point the whole time. This one was just unrelenting uphill the entire way with no end in sight.
