Ah, Topps JP comics... I remember that even at the time I thought they were pretty sus, because the art was terrible, the dinosaurs didn't look at all like they did in the movies, and they kept going for the worst kind of comic bullshittery instead of any of the actually interesting philosophical and political questions that would come out of the existence of Jurassic Park. But I guess they got the last laugh, because Jurassic World did end up going the route of the Topps comics: Jurassic Park, AGAIN! Military conspiracies! Bioweapons! Crazy cloning! Random shit! Dinosaurs on the loose!😆

Looking at this comic, I can't help but feel like we were robbed of a Jurassic Park cartoon series back in the 90's. I'm baffled that never came together, it would have sold itself. Wonder if they'd go The Real Ghostbusters route and make everyone only sort of kind of resemble their movie counterparts, but not quite. Plus, imagine if someone took panels of Nedry out of context in the early internet days and tried to pass it off as a Seinfeld comic? And now I'm shocked they didn't make one of those either.

Sure, TMNT wasn't exactly a kid's comic when it was published and a lot of other Super Hero cartoons at the time delved into more mature themes, but it feels like it should have been more at home with The Maxx or Spawn on an adult animation block, rather than network Saturday Morning.

The first comic reminds me of the jurassic park novel by michael crichton, the scene where Dr Grant, Tim, and Lex are on a boat and the Rexe is underneath them and jumping out and making the boat fly a little bit.

The green light/flame reminds me of the green flame in The Festival, a Lovecraft story--though probably nothing to do with the Mythos. I am willing to bet they went with a spooky green flame to add mystery but didn't know what it was actually going to be, counting on someone reading a science book by the time they got around to it, then just sort of letting it slip because it was a monthly tie-in-comic unlikely to attract (too many) readers that were hung up on continuity.

I’d like to see Gus show up in the next JP movie. No explanation, just this immortal one-eyed badass yammering on about a dinosaur shooting him in the face. Also, that last comic with a different artist doing every page is a great gimmick, but it would suck to be the artist who gets the most boring page to draw. Like, your coworker gets the awesome dinosaur attack scene with creatures and explosions everywhere, and you’re stuck drawing Nedry taking a dump.

Scar is a reference to land of the lost 1991 scar this came out 1995. 4 years after same premise as that trex. The one from land of the lost also mistreated by humans the main characters of that show probably the only humans to g8ve him some kinda respect i. That not shooting him he still chaces them like he has vendetta.

I love the 9th of Return. Just a nice self-contained bit of dinosaur chaos with some great artwork. The rest I like, though the 4 after the Green Flame adventure is a little of a lower point of the series for me. Also, are you going to be covering the 0th and Annual issues of Jurassic Park? The annual is its own story, while the 0th came prepackaged with the trade paperback comic adaptation of the first movie and is yet another prequel story.

5:32 The T.Rex swimming scene is actually likely from the Jurassic Park novelization (probably a cameo or homage to it) that wasn't featured in any JP film. Due to the fact that having a swimming T-Rex and a waterfall sequence would have cost too much money for the time.
