@@JesseStLouis Yeah, I've been editing it together today. It should be done processing soon. There's still a lot of water on the creek, but the pool itself looks pretty similar to how it was when you visited in this video. It's my first time there so I don't have much to compare it to aside from your videos, but it wasn't too over grown, which is a plus for accessing similar spots. The Bear Canyon pools also have a lot of water.
Watch your adventures with a bit of awe as I've never been like you - but these are awesome places you "discover" & really enjoy the beauty of nature, a California Gramma 😀
Hey man I went there this Saturday and slipped down the fall and felt fracturin two backbone. I got rescued by a helicopter and made it to the hospital today Im fine home and was able to record everything with my go pro Im thankful to be alive and be able to tell the story
LOVING your videos, thank you Jesse! as a Brit in LA i discovered Switzer soon after I moved here, but have yet to make it to Royal Falls. will be doing so! /salutes you
I headed down to the Royal Pool a year ago, it’s faster to walk in the middle of the river the whole way down with good water shoes that have good traction. All the rocks are covered in slick green algae/moss. From my recollection you have to travel two miles to the falls/pool in the river, trekking poles are a big help to catch you from falling if you’re moving fast. This area is active with black bears and mountain lions, came across both tracks along the edge of the water so I don’t advise traveling it alone and it’s not beginner friendly territory.
I made it here today, it was indeed a journey, saw various water snakes, very cool! Man tip my hat off to you taking the route back in the dark 😬 As of today right before you get off the trail and head to royal pool, there is another one very similar with the a Slide, but bigger pool and deeper, just awesome! Thanks a lot for your videos and inspiration 🙌🏼
Rice Canyon in Santa Clarita, California is amazing for water falls, Whitney Canyon in Canyon Country, California has super nice NATURAL WATERSLIDES, both flow from December-July, but for that kind of stuff, February And March are the absolute best months.
I love the videos, I just wish you'd show the wildlife, if any, thats around... for example the whole time you were going through the stream I was looking in the background for fish and crawfish.. i saw that salamander... freaking awesome 👌
I always do my best to show the wildlife that I see. Check out my Borneo video for some epic wildlife 🙌 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Dxyx5AEvwA.html
In July 2018 my buddy and I hiked to the pool from both directions on two different days. We did not try to climb over it. Climbing around was too sketchy (loose rock, etc.) and we had heard that sliding down into the pool was very dangerous. The water flow was far less than what you found or we could not have come from the downstream side without at least wading through some pools.
Have you gone here lately? Tried to go here Saturday, Hiked 10 miles round trip and didn't find it :( Found other cool pools but still would like to find this one.
Beautiful place but I Guarantee posting a video like this the more people that find out and share this information this place will eventually look like trash just like most all the other beautiful places. It’s really sad! I’m 51 and I remember when I was younger I used to be able to hike anywhere in OC or LA County always beautiful. Not any more
I was trying to find this exact spot a couple months ago. Still not sure if it was Royal, or just some other pool. Where is it in relation to Bear Canyon Camp? And great videos!!
@@adventureswithwhiskey7752 Yeah there is a right fork a while before heading up towards the campground. Stoddard should be fun, just check the depth first.
@@JesseStLouis Awesome! I think I have an idea of the canyon. Thank you!! We will absolutely check the depth. If you ever find yourself needing some company on one of your adventures, let me know!! Cheers
Something seems vary off by the distance and staring location. I never heard of this pool but I know the area extremely well. There is a campsite called oakwilde just off the 2 hwy. if you look for that site and the closest point of the 2 you will find a small turn out. This turn out has a trail you won't find on any map. This should cut your distant in half if not by at min a third. Make sure when you get to the bottom you mark the trail. Since its unmarked it's easy to lose. I found the trail looking for a shortcut to mt brown.
That trail is pretty much gone and eroded. We climbed out that way after we ran Nerfherder Canyon ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q8-fW2th0xc.html
