IThis May end up being a lengthy comment,but I don’t think you’ll mind! Maybe it’s the algorithm,but a lot of detecting videos are presenting themselves. A particularly fine one was sifinds’ latest,where he purchased a job lot of old detectors,and invited anyone to join him at a beach. It is a heartwarming video. But,my point is,that I purchased a detector earlier this year,and kinda became discouraged,because I’m spoiled by all of these amazing UK videos where all of you find insanely fascinating items!! Sure,you sometimes,in fact probably more often than not,find rubbish. I have only found rubbish here in USA,I don’t refer to myself as a ‘detectorist’, I call myself a ‘dud-tectorist’🤣 But all of you,over there,you have been inspiring me to persevere,to not give up. These people who have inspired me know who they are,and now,so do you,as the 2 of you are on that list of gratitude and inspiration. Sooo,yeah,thank you!😊

Lovely finds! Bang-on👍.A sure sign that you two ladies have 'got what it takes' to be truly dedicated to our hobby. It's not common-sense to brave very severe weather, but a bit of rain won't hurt if you're kitted out. If not? Well, you'll be wet on the outside, too, and a few inches taller, on arable. For me, I'd call it 'The Viking Field' if you find a lead hnefatafl gaming piece (so max research that lead find), perhaps. They're rare; but about. If you find ancient, small, islamic bronze weights, 'you're in'! Years ago, I almost whanged a Vgp away. My bro, checking behind me, saved the day.

I am going to have to look up such a strap end in use to get a better idea of how it was used. Folded lead was intriguing, I imagined someone finding this and removing the coin offering and superstitiously putting a piece of lead in before abandoning it. Thanks for a good day out

Oi Oi! William 3rd halfpenny is nice to see. I dont think I've ever found one before. I wish more of the post med copper coins came up more often as opposed to just George III halfpennies! The weather is changing now so its back to the old grind in the mud... YAY :D

Much more information, shots of digging, clear shots of finds than some of the other channels that are bloated with stock footage of the hosts walking around in slow motion, blathering on with guesses and incorrect statements... Bad weather in Europe have a different meaning than the one in Canada. Today it's - 10°C, you would need a drill to dig in the frozen soil. 😊 I wonder why ancient poeple lost so much coins. Good luck and make a lot of finding. 👍⛏️🗡️☂️

Always worth it ...that cosy feeling when you get back, which you wouldn't enjoy if you'd stayed in? Yeah I get the muddy car bit however Those lead things are unidentifiable as really there's nothing in the way of decoration to go on. That said there have been gaming pieces and weights found in connection with Viking encampments in the past, and I found a small lead weight with an attachment in a Saxon context. Keep going .....I know you will and I look forward to the next

Folded led could contain coins? That was new to me 😮 That pistol ball can easily be a weight or gaming piece from the vikings. To get that completely flat shape on one side it has to hit a thick metal plate of iron straight on, not very likely. I think you have two weights there.

Why were they so small??
