You are definitely an inspiring person! I'm going to school for Elementary Education, and it's taken me quite a bit longer than I anticipated to get through school. I think that seeing videos like this show people in my position that teaching is a stressful career, but that with proper time management, and determination you can get through it. The whole substitute teacher thing is hard! As a teacher, it's hard to come back after a sub. But before I was a teacher, I was a sub so I know how hard being a sub is too! The kiddos never behave the same for a sub, no matter how hard he/she tries. I had more rough days as a sub then I've ever had as a teacher! I'm Just glad you got a good vacation and the kids survived! Just keep your head up! The year is almost over!! Whoo hoo!

I almost always toss whatever assignment I leave for my sub to do. It's middle school, so almost all sub plans are watch them take a quiz or test or do a filler assignment and make sure they don't destroy the room.

In response to your frustrating day. Sometimes I have a heart to heart with my students about their behavior. I explain to them how it makes me feel and why it's so important for them to behave and be on task ect. I am surprised to see how much they listen and care especially when there's misbehavior and you don't have time. Usually a 3 minute heart to heart talk helps them to empathize with you and reflect about themselves/change their behavior.

Your field trip looked amazing! I think everyone is dealing with similar issues from the kids because they are all just done. Literally so am I. We had a short summer last year (6 wks) so that we can start in August and get out the friday before Memorial Day. Although this is great, we are all feeling it. I am so excited to have a normal summer this year. I have some fun things planned for my kids and they will most definitely love it all. =) I have a lot to grade this weekend and I need to figure out a Mother's Day craft. =) Enjoy your weekend! When the kid goes "can we go in here?" And the other one goes " no! "😂 And when tbe kids say "what is that?" And " the fridge opens?! " like its the greatest discovery ever!!!!

To make organizing papers easier, each paper I hand out has a triangle on the upper left hand side. In September, I spend a lot of time reviewing student numbers and the importance of putting your number in the triangle. That's assuming you give your students numbers in your classroom.

I would be very happy if a sub left my room like that. They obviously made a huge effort to keep it tidy for you. 😊If kids have left stuff out then I expect them to put it away even if it's the next day. As for the poster...I probably wouldn't even register it in my room the heat means that we are constantly re sticking them up 😅. My kids are awesome and just fix it now.

Love, love, love your videos. I will say this, the "then" Michelle stresses me out! LOL! I don't know how you were able to sustain that crazy schedule! The "now" Michelle is so much calmer. Of course you aren't teaching now so I am sure that helps. Plus, you know how to prioritize now. Wow, I am overwhelmed just watching this!

Love your videos even though I'm not a teacher. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. For some reason, that I don't know, this vlog reminded me of the best teacher I ever had way back during the 1980-81 school year for third grade.

Why don't you use a little but that little refrigerator and keep it in your classroom and that why if you stay after school and your starving you have a little refrigerator in your classroom and just get food out of the refrigerator!!!Or just keep a box of goldfish or gummies in your class!!

I love your videos!!!! One thing I do in my classroom is "class tallies." Whenever the whole class is doing a good job, I write a tally on the board. If they are not doing a good job, I erase a tally. When we get to 25 tallies I give them a treat- cookies or donuts or something like that. It works well for us!! You are an amazing teacher!!!!

Your room was in pretty good condition considering you've been gone for seven days. That makes me happy for your sake. That Museum looked like *so* much fun! I know my kids would absolutely love it. The dramatic play centers were awesome, especially that diner.

On Friday we had a field trip in Baltimore too hahahah

What my teacher does when we are badly behaving she writes a letter on the whiteboard is the word.community since she wants our class to work together and behave good.and when she crosses out every single letter and. Then she puts extra / marks and every mark like this / means a minute from our recess to sit in the classroom and think of out behavior,by Friday if nothing is crossed out she lets us sit with our friends cause we are assigned seats.and sit with our friends for two hours of the day .my teacher also does dojo points and the group with most points gets pizza party.my teacher also does tickets like raffle tickets that you get from Walmart are amazing for 1.00 and and every ticket u get u write ur name on it and put in the bucket and on Friday she picks a name and they get a ticket.I am grateful my teacher does this for us so she asks us to behave or everything goes away.my teacher does sowmthing called flexible sitting where the teacher buys yoga balls,different kinds of du. Chairs,seating coushins,pillows and different kinds of setting and we get to sit on them who ever gets it first but..you can get suspended from it for behaving badly, Sorry if this has very bad grammar because in my school we basically have computers at the school provide all student and I'm on my phone and right now I'm on the keypad is so tiny and so has my fingers to type so it's very bad and hurt cause I have cramps and it's easier to type now since everything's technology .

for the instruction part I understand the part of that you don't want your computer to be broken, I would have filmed a video for the assignments.

So many videos yay :) you are so good to your class. The place you went to for your class trip looked very fun and educational. Wish we had a place like that in Australia! We are going on an excursion in a few weeks (we call field trips excursions). The bus ride takes an hour. I will not complain of the long bus ride after your long bus trip!!

im glad you say this not getting your class in trouble for behavior while they had a sub. i have 30 years later never forgot the day my 2nd grade teacher used corporal punishment on my class (this was when teachers didnt have to have parental consent or notification in my district to paddle) as punishment for the way we acted one day for a sub. my 2nd grade teacher was extremely strict at least 1 kid a week got paddled in our class and many weeks more than one did but not only did that leave a lasting effect on alot of us. we remember it to this day, but several parents including my dad was extremely upset with her. I dont even remember what we did just that she obviously got a bad report from the sub.

OMG! I am from the Eastern shore (currently live on the other side of the bridge) I can not image going over the bay bridge in a school bus, with the ridges in the middle in the westbound side. Glad that your kids had fun at Port Discovery. It is always fun taking the children to the city. I remember a lot of the children I taught had never been to the western part of the state.

Days like Wednesday do not sweat about not having a video up as planned! Fellow teachers are well aware of pressures and long hours...you'll only guarantee getting sick by overworking! Having had a week of school inspectors in, so late nights and early mornings, on top of the stress, I've been hit by a horrible flu like thing the past 3 days and no sign of shifting it yet. Just a small piece of advice (meant in the nicest way possible): I wouldn't speak negatively about other teachers on your RU-vid platform. Saying your kids were acting up in art is one thing, but bashing the art teacher's teaching style is another. While it could very well be true, it comes across as unprofessional and potential employers may interpret this the wrong way. You are such an inspiration to me as a first year teacher. I aspire to be as organized with my kinders as you are with your third graders.

You're such a good teacher, most people give up on children who act out and you keep trying to help and it's paid off! :D

I am in the Eastern Panhandle in WV and I will have to take my family there one day. It is too far for a second grade field trip for our district.
