It was not said in the anime, but when Laios told everyone to split into groups is because when a large group of people congregate at the same place, the dungeon would react and respond usually like sending monsters and such.
Kabru has a perfect social mask and won't show displeasure no matter what. Combine with Laios being dumb as a brick and you'll have a guy happy to feed you monster and the other too polite to refuse. Also, his giddy reaction to black magic is probably an overcompensation since he was that shocked.
@@pablothecoffeelover2551 Liaos isn't insane he is a great example of an autistic adult, Kabru is similarly another example of neurodivergent, one can say he is a functional sociopath, he acts differently than how he actually feels, masking his true emotions for the sake of politeness and peace to the degree of recklessness, he simultaneously hates interacting with other humans because he see's through masks they wear because he wears it all the time but at times there are people like Liaos who are unrionically themselves, someone who is fascinating to him yet something he despises as he is unable to truly be himself.

For comparison, while Laios is much “smarter” (and experienced, for that matter) in terms of fighting monsters, Kabru is ‘dumb’ in that category, instead specced to apply that same degree of intelligence specifically to other humans. However, in the ‘battlefield’ of being polite/friendly, Kabru will feign an interest reasonably well, but can’t bring himself to refuse in a way that works (thus dropping his mask), while Laios will charge forward because, despite his own party still having some misgivings about monster food, they all come around eventually when/if it’s safe (thus negating the pretense he _started_ the series with, that people are generally hard-squicked at the concept of eating monsters). It’s like the unstoppable force vs immovable object bit, except the object is “I have to show interest despite not being interested” and the force is “Interest has kicked me into another gear, let me share my love of ‘thing’ _more_ .” Even with better knowledge of social cues, Laios would never let the opportunity pass. Meanwhile, with better knowledge of _Laios_ , Kabru might have held back on the fawning a bit.
14:17 That’s both _why_ Shuro is so distressed about the knowledge, and why Laios isn’t flinching. In a practical sense, Shuro would rather have been told a lie than be burdened with the info. Like, people have ways of learning of others’ crimes that aren’t them snitching on themselves. Magic is a hell of a tool. And the awareness of black magic being used, even if for a good purpose, gets people thrown in a hole with no way out.
Liaos is someone who will blantently tell the truth without any sugarcoating especially to those he trusts and while he expects a consequence in saying so it is often not the kind of information neurotypicals would like to hear, many neurotypical people are used to being told straight up lies but Liaos being a perfect example of a Autistic adult so whenever you'd ask him "what happened" he will explain in as intricate detail he can even if doing so reveals something taboo
Tade the Ogre is more brawn {and heart} than brains. Her mistaking Senshi' helment horns as real is understandable. Plus, non-humans are not as common in the East so this makes interactions between them and Eastern Tall-men somewhat awkward.
9:50 in ep 5, the first time Kabru team was introduced, there was a scene that his team discuss about how adventerers in deeper levels dealing with long-term food: Rin told that hunt for monster to eat is easier and Kabru reponse that he DON'T want to end up in that situation. This is important line for him at that point to help audience understand Kabru personal not share an interest in eating monsters with Laios. BUT, somehow, the Dub and CC sub for it alternated that sentence into making fun of Rin?
Note the eastern islands (their world version of Japan) doesn’t have much contact with other regions. Only dominant races there are humans/tall folk and onis. So it’s rare for them to meet halffoots, dwarves and such besides elves if they visit often.

@hieioni3354 that happens next ep! there's the fight w falin then afterwards shuro starts at marcille and laios cuts in then they fight. they did cut other stuff tho! laios and kabrus internal dialogue - "i'll have to do something before that happens" (kabru about laios giving him monster food) and "what a nice guy.." (laios about kabru at the same moment, also he's blushing a bit lol), then later, "it would be bad if i said she used the dark arts.." (laios when talking to kabru about marcille) and "he's a terrible liar and equally terrible at hiding things" (kabru right after that)
@@ryan.4841 No, I meant the scene of Shuro choking Laios and Laios struggling. It was very clear in the manga. Also, it's sad that they cut the internal monologues from both Laios and Kabru. Those add to their character, a lot. This proves that Studio Trigger is not as infallible as the rest.
Kabru is definitely one of the best characters in this show. The contrast between Kabru and Laios' personalities is very interesting. They are both smart but Kabru is very good at reading people. Just take one look at Lios and see immediately he is not guilty. While Lios doesn’t even notice how exhausted Shuro is🤣🤣🤣
You seems to underestimate the consequence of black magic, Shuro is distress about Laios got Falin involve with the situation, you will learn about why he is right and being so piss off
6:25 name for him is funny. The fan translation was Sureau, then official English translation is shuro. Ppl argue on the fan is true and claim ryoko said it’s that but in the anime you can hear them say Shuro even in Japanese dub.
The only thing i had understood about "Kabru" until now, is that he is self-centered and believes that there is no one better than him, and everyone has an hidden agenda and everyone do bad things except him, and he is the only one who is capable of doing the Right thing.
