[TIMESTAMPS BELOW]
A step by step installation of a Weber 32/36 carburetor for the 3rd gen Honda Accord 1986-1989. Unfortunately this install was done over 10 years ago so I cannot show you the steps of removing the factory carbureted setup but hopefully I will provide enough information to explain what is needed to get a Weber carburetor setup to work.

Oh man! I needed this! Bro your channel is a life saver in these dying times. I got a 86 accord hatchback DX damn near clean just minor rust for the age. The guy who sold it to me gave me a Weber 32/36. What would stop you from passing emissions after installing???
@aziangarage
@aziangarage Год назад
Honestly I'm not sure, I'm sure it can be done but I only say that mostly due to the fact that most of the stuff thats no longer needed after the conversion is mostly emissions stuff.
@xaviermccloud4586
@xaviermccloud4586 Год назад
@@aziangarage Yea I figured the same. After changing out the entire exhaust that rusted out, the car runs almost emission free. I'm pretty sure someone can tune it. Do you happen to know where I can get the throttle linkage for the 86 accord?
@aziangarage
@aziangarage Год назад
Try out some cables from other models around the same time. It might take some modding but it should work.

Man, I am struggling with my Weber swap on my 1989 Accord LX auto trans. There was two cables attached to the side on the original carb. One being the throttle and the other I am not sure. My Accord is equipped with cruise control so initially I thought it was a cruise control cable, but now I am not sure. I was told that the kickdown linkage for the auto trans was attached from the gas pedal to the transmission. I could really use some help. Thanks.
@turtlesquirtle3608
@turtlesquirtle3608 8 месяцев назад
That cable is indeed the kickdown cable. I'm doing the swap right now as well. I was able to route that cable behind the carb and attach it to the new throttle cable plate thing. Drilled a tiny lil hole through the cylinder on the end of the cable, widened a hole on the carb throttle cable plate and used a locking pin to hold it on there.
@joshsatchwell2161
@joshsatchwell2161 8 месяцев назад
@@turtlesquirtle3608 I ended up mounting it opposite of the throttle cable using one of the intake screw spots that was unused. Made my own mounting bracket for it. So far it's worked like a charm. Would love a photo of what you did though

hey! i don’t know how active you are at responding to comments but i have a couple questions. i’ve been having a problem with my 88’ and i’m wondering if it is a carburetor issue and if replacing the stock one with a weber would fix it? car runs fine when i first start it up, i get a good 15/20 minutes out of it and then once i’ve either been on the highway or just driven it for that amount of time it starts to stall when i come to stops. and even if i throw it in neutral or park it’ll still stall out. do you have any experience you could share with this issue? cars in super great shape only 100k miles really hoping it’s not something much more drastic!

@aziangarage Год назад
Hard to give you a definite answer without being there but going with the Weber will definitely help alleviate a lot potential problems in regards to possible vacuum leaks from all those vaccum lines, a tune would be a good idea as well, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter, ect.
@TheQriz
@TheQriz Год назад
Had the same problem with my euro sedan a20a2. Cracking the fast idle screw on the back of the carb (pain to get to) wiggled it a little seemed to fix it. Also, replace vacuum hoses, especially everything that has to do with the choke.

First off Fantastic Video! Two Questions: 1-How do I get the Cruise Control to work after the Weber Install? Should it still function or is there vacuum lines that need to be rerouted? 2-When I turn my A/C on while sitting or in Park my car idles rough. Where do I hook the vacuum lines from the AC Idle Boost Valve on the driver side to? A/C works fine, but the boost isn't functioning to assist with idling while sitting still.
@aziangarage
@aziangarage 4 месяца назад
Thank you! I am unsure due to the fact my hatch is a DX and did not have Cruise control and AC never worked when I got the car so I removed it. From what I've briefly read on the forums the AC idle booster is only the oem carb and you will loose it with the Weber, in the Weber manual it says to set idle at operating temp with AC on.

It might be a little late for a comment but why not. I got my weber swap running before i found this video (this couldve saved me some time). Though now my engine gets very hot and thought about looping the coolant hoses to the thermostat housing. Would i recon this to work?
@aziangarage
@aziangarage Месяц назад
Did you plug the coolant lines that went to the OEM carb? That's what I did and never had any problems. You can loop them and see if it helps.
@360RTZoD
@360RTZoD Год назад
I just did this same swap. But now Im having an issue with coolant. It seems to be drinking coolant and steaming out the exhaust. I plugged the hole in the original intake like the instructions show. But still getting coolant into the intake. I threaded the hole with a 5/16 tap and ran a plug with rtv down into the hole. Which should have solved the problem. I pulled it all apart again to make sure it was not leaking coolant there and it was not.

So where exactly do the two hose hookups in the vacuum advance hook up to? I know one goes to the port on the carb, but which one on the advance does that hose need to connect to? Also, where does the other hookup on the vacuum advance hook up at?

Amigo can i put a Weber carb on a 1989 crx base durl point fuel injector system by limiting the fuel pump and put another out side from 3 to 5 psi close to the tank outside and plug the weber 32 36 i know my obdo ECM will work fine but i wonder thanks

I honestly don't know, I don't see why not but I'm curious why not just go to multi point fuel injection? And I'm unsure how the obd0 ecm/ecu will manage the ignition timing since carbureted hondas usually use vacuum advanced distributors

As long as it has a good seal and the intake manifold is clean of shavings I don't see why not. Another old school option would be to make one out of wood.
