I met him such a dear charmer. Rev. Lowery was a kind soul. He was my Pastor's closest friend ; so we got to see him often. And truly our( benefit)just the same humble, lively, gentleman as he was on that day.
I can only smile and nod my head as he speaks. His uncanny talent to not only command a crowd but also take a very serious moment and make it fun and laughable is nothing short of brilliant. My hats off to him.
RIP Warrior! I love you and I am going to miss you so much! I can't believe you're gone but thanks for fighting as hard as you did for all of us and for speaking truth to power!
A wonderful woman, with a wonderful husband ,who had wonderful children, that became a wonderful family, who sacrificed their lives for a wicked racist world. Bro. Harrison, minister
Now she can rest in peace with her husband Dr. MLK, she should be glad she doesn't have to live in such a terrible World like this anymore, but a much better place now in Heaven.
I am First Nations - From the Piikani (Blackfoot) Nation in Southern Alberta. This Video as well as - "We Are All One - An Inspiring Short Film to Watch." Have come to mean so much to me. rest in peace to a great lady thank you for all you and Martin did to make our worlf a better place for everyone god bless and Martin will always have respect & love for both of you
RIP Dr Lowrey your sacrifices for the civil rights movement and SCLC were not done in vain and may the testaments of those sacrifices of you and countless others live on throughout history to no end, rest in power...
I AM HONORED TO CARRY HER NAME: CORETTA. I AM STRONG. I AM POWERFUL. I AM BLACK. I AM WOMAN. THANK YOU, MRS. KING. MAY YOUR BEAUTIFUL SOUL REST IN PEACE.
I'm not a Joseph Lowery "fan," although I support him and his amazing legacy. As far as funerals go, this one was truly a celebration of her life and Rev. Lowery captured the moment perfectly ("the moment" being Ms. King's death, her legacy, and her place in current events).
Trump would have had a cow…I admire the former presidents for their grace and dignity and for not making EVERYTHING personal and vindictive. Awesome poem
maybe the funeral wasn't the best place to have said it, not sure because of what Mrs. King represented to this country. but, i give him credit for saying it to bush's face.
how do you think we got to September 4, 2013? Clinton left us with peace and prosperity, Bush left us with two wars and financial ruin. Obama has spent the last 5 years digging us out of the hole bush made. and, yes on September 4, 2013 we are better off than when Bush left the White House in January 20, 2009. The economy, the banking situation, the housing situation, healthcare, have all IMPROVED from when Bush left office. The numbers speak for themselves.
This is another example of the black church experience. George Bush (41) had no idea that this was not necessarily a funeral but a celebration of life. Never apologize for being black. OBAMA '08
Keep in mind that he was only holding up the legacy of the KIng's not this BS that America passes off to negate the Preacher King ... truth crushed to earth shall rise!
the government helped destroy MLK and yet today we see them sitting closest to his wife. The same people she was fighting against were honored at this funeral. odd....
What was Bush Sr. and Jr. laughing about at the end of the is clip. The man just called you liars and oppressors of poor people. Get a look on Jr.'s face. Its was like they were old friends. May God have mercy on us all and may God bless the whole world. Amen
Trelane, I agree completely. I assume we'll both continue to get those little red numbers beside the "thumbs up / thumbs down" icons. I don't care. Political opportunism at a funeral service (which is for the family/friends of the deceased) is, at best, disrespectful. I'm sure it made the crowd and a few Democrats happy (although a know a few Democrats that were equally appalled) but that doesn't negate the fact: this was wrong.
He knew Coretta personally for decades. I'm sure he, out of anyone, knew how she would approve or disapprove. Stop flaming a youtube video. She was a political individual, even if she did not always stand out as much as her famous husband. In that sense, a political funeral is exactly appropriate.
The inauguration today was so forward looking, and then this dinosaur trots out a tired old rhyme that wasn't particularly clever the first time around. All the good he's done in the past doesn't mean he's above criticism for disrespecting the president at the funeral, and delivering a hacky benediction at the inauguration.
Of course we'll never hear Stone Cold Bush Jr. say he did wrong, but everyone knows because the past 8 years speaks for itself. So, thank you, Internet preacher.
...in a participatory democracy, bad laws are to be changed and bad officials are to be ousted. Nevertheless, there is a very real respect that Paul uneqivocally calls all Christians to give because the position is instituted by God. For that reason alone, and notwithstanding political differences, Lowery should have done the respectful thing and omitted his political rant from his speech. As far as your pointing me towards Isaiah 30:8-11, God is speaking to those... CONTINUED...
Thank you Miss Sesquipedalian for helping me to tackle that tough word. Very kind of you. And so because the word "ass" is in the Bible (notwithstanding the fact it is always used to refer to the animal and never used as a derogatory term), you feel like it's okay for a Christian to say it, huh? Interesting. Tell your pastor that you talked to an ass this week and let me know how he responds. Word of wisdom: Sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil (Isa. 5:20 NLT).
i think between the two, and we only got the two choices, obama is the better choice. i think romney is an opportunists and is only looking at the presidency as a trophy. i don't feel he has the country's best interest at heart. based on his past and the way he has raked this country over for the love of a dollar, i don't think we should trust him.
You mean like Trump. Lieing about covid 10. Calling players mother bleep. Oh yeah this conservative president has such great class. Please, trump is a wonderful race hustler as well he just does is it a little better and has a base of people to help mitigate what he does
"We know that there were no weapons of mass destruction over there" Tell that to the thousands of Kurds who lost there lives in 1988. I guess they must have used up all their weapons of mass destruction on the Kurds.
Sadly, I don't think it fazed him in the least. For that matter, I don't think humility was anywhere in that presidential row, with the exception of Carter.
