I am from Houston and I remembered the day he was killed. That Saturday he had just sung for the group that I sing with for a gathering we had. One of our members was a member at his church. That Sunday he preached like it was his last sermon and the next day he was gone. After entering his home Paul was shot by robbers who where there to rob him. He definitely was a man who helped so many and surely he didn't deserve to be killed. Yes I too had heard the rumors that he was engaged in homosexual activities but those were not true he helped everyone regardless of who you were or what you did and if anything he was guilty by association. He would often visit my home church and he always called my mother his "Birthday Buddy" because they shared the same October 13th birthday. He was an awesome man of God and it broke my heart to hear that he was killed. I had just saw him that Saturday and he was gone that Monday. What does it matter now, let the man rest. Whatever he did on this earth good or bad he has received his judgement from God. All of us are going to have to pay for the things we have said or did while here on earth no matter who you are or what God or No God that you serve.
Tracy Mattax Thats right Tracy we all will be judged before God in Heaven. So we need to stop our sinful practices and we call ourselves Christians .We Better Walk it Like We Talk It .Amen
Man...his song stopped me from taking my own life. No lie. Its another one of those days again for me. So I had to listen to it to get my mind right. It hurts to know he died so young and brutally but once you've completed God's will, you must return home. Job well done!
iam watching this because this man created one of the most uplifting, inspirational, comforting & TRUE southern gosple songs EVER made. I always knew he died young. Today i learned that he was murdered as all true vessels of faith, love and peace are..
He didn't write that song.that song was written by Don Johnson from Memphis tennessee.paul Jones led people to believe that he wrote that song but all he changed the title from I can't complain to I won't complain.all the other words came from Don Johnson.
I hate when a person is in church a funeral or any church function and sit there with their baby crying ...jus get ur butt up go quiet the baby and come back .... U won't miss as much and the other people can enjoy what they came to hear
Everyone is more concern with how he died, which is no concern of yours. only 3 people know what happen that night. Better question, If YOU Died today, IS YOUR Soul right? OR If YOU Died today, DO YOU Want People to focus on your flaws or praise your good works.
+Kim Mack we know how. He was shot to death in a botched robbery, but you are still right, that man was a legit man-of-God, i heard him preach and he was definitely as anointed as they come. God said to Paul Jones " Do your work in a brief span of life and i'll bring you into the Kingdom" and boy did he do it, he's in a better place.
+MITCHELL ALVAREZ thats what i said too.. this man of God song his way into heaven.. wow.. thats what happen.. his in the kingdom not made by mans hands
smiley 24 paul jones was a saved Christian, amazing preacher, and pastor of a church not just *a singer*, what evidence do you have to refute his salvation?
I remembered hearing the sad news on the news and I thought at the time they were talking about another Rev. Paul Jones. I was pregnant with my first child. I was in disbelief And I could not believe it. He grew up in my neighborhood. I believe he was a true man of God. And sincere. I pray he is resting in God's arm.
First of all there is a difference between telling someone the truth and judging,if you are telling someone the word of the lord that's not judging because that is not your word you are telling them its the most high and if you was paying close attention to what I said I was asking a question,,, HE WAS SHOT IN HIS BEHIND,WHAT OTHER REASON WOULD A PERSON HAVE TO SHOOT YOU IN YOUR BEHIND UNLESS THEY WAS TRYING TO GIVE A "SIGN" A MAN OF GOD DIES LIKE THIS??? SOMETHING DONT ADD UP
+Jeremy Webb you are correct he was involved in homosexual activity and i believe he even admitted to it in his church, but i still believe he was saved and entered into Heaven
it doesn't matter how he died..the fact is that he is dead..and as true believers we are to do what God place in each of us to do..just what Paul Jones did!!..which is go out and preach the gospel to all nations
Two generals of the Faith, both now rest in the arms of Jesus. Pastor Herbert Stroman and Bishop Alva C. Nelson, Jr. Sleep on Reverends Jones, Stroman and Nelson.
Rev Paul Jones was murdered in his home 1990, not in a car accident. The fact to matter is that Rev. Jones knew his killer, he always helping people out.
It doesn't matter how he pass because we all will take our last breath one day. What's important is that we're ready to be judge rightoues by our creator. Because truthfully many don't know how they're going to leave this earth. 2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
Thank you for posting The late Rev. Paul Jones funeral. Do you have any more of his clip? I wish I've had known him. Long time ago, someone was trying to let me listen to his tape but a few years later, I've purchased his cd's. I am truly blessed to hear this young man singing. May God bless you dearly for posting this young man's funeral.
Hi, my sincere condolences and prayers to your family even after all these years. I’ve been listening to his song I won’t complain most of the day. My mom was in the hospital out of state and I just felt like rewinding it over and over. I finally found a video of him singing it live and it was awesome he was really gifted but God to sing. I don’t mean to be rude but I’d rather ask family than read and believe rumors. How did he die was it in a car accident or was he robbed and killed? Thank you for posting and responding to my post ❤
Bishop Nelson says that Rev. Paul Jones died trying to help him. As I recall, Rev. Jones was murdered. What did Bishop Jones mean when he said trying to "help him"?
mrtheoneandonly 83 actually the accident took place about a lil over a week before Rev. Jones was killed. The Nelsons were on their way to the National Convocation of the Church Of God In Christ. I believe the program that night he went to was a benefit program for Bishop Nelson and family.
mrtheoneandonly 83 LOL YOU CHURCH FOLKS are a mess!!!! First of all Paul Jones helped organize a BENEFIT PROGRAM for the Nelson immediately after their car accident. That same weekend Paul was murdered IN HIS HOME, not in the car accident. Also Sis. Nelson did NOT lose a lung in the accident. Stop 🛑 posting lies!!!!
this is bro Nehemiah mabson the part of the mabsons i did not know him well but to me he was a quite man a man of srtigh and happy god bless ya i will still pray for the family thks love Nehemiah mabson
The Church always goes out of their way to cover up how people died. The Church NEEDS to start ministering to our ministers while they LIVE (every person has something they need help with) and then MAYBE they wouldn't have to die. We'd rather cover up stuff than deal with It. Rev Jones was an awesome preacher and an awesome singer but he was a bit tormented and NOBODY ever tried to help him so long as he could shout the church when he showed up. His death was tragic AND avoidable but The Church is into gifts these days, not people. Sad. What shappened to him happens all the time but it was something that he could have had under control by then. And we choose to cover it up in JESUS name, even though talking about it may save someone else from making similar fateful decisions. WHAT A CARING CHIRCH WE'VE BECOME...
newcreature2011 That is not true the first thing the church do is say when somebody die was that he was not perfect witch is true. I was 16 years old when Paul Jones died i grew up on his music thanks to my grandmother Paul had problems but who don't. Some say he was gay at the time i didn't know all that i found that out after he died . But one thing for sure Paul Jones was crazy about the Lord when he sing you could feel the passion in his voice something that is missing in church today . I will always be grateful to Paul Jones i love him and still listen to his music to this day i hope God accepted him in the gates of heaven .
always have and always will and see how some ministers use words to make themselves look superior yet forget about winning those who are still lost even as a time like this.
What is evident here is torment..for the deceased..the survivors..and all else involved covertly or outright. The solution? Pray without ceasing for "all"..always should have. God unravels every mystery..
@Kendrick: His funeral took place at Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was a member there before pastoring. The church was pastored by W. Leo Daniels and then his brother C.D. Daniels, Jr. who was also the eulogist.
If u listen to the old man sitting by the casket he says the other 2 people that were in the car are doing ok. plus if u have the gospel music channel they will play that song not so often and it says he was in a car accident.
That's the late Bishop Nelson sitting, and speaking about a car accident he was involved in, I know it's difficult to hear everything he's saying because of the crying baby, But he's saying that Pastor Paul Jones helped him a great deal.
He wasn't killed by someone he didn't know he didn't preach as it it was his last sermon, his cousin went to the same church I went to, she's there at the funeral and she told him not to hang around that crowd because they're bad news,he didn't listen he thought he could help them but he didn't listen to his cousin pearl that told him what GOD SAID ABOUT THOSE HOODLUMS,IF ANYONE KNOW THE STORY ONLY PAUL AND THOSE MURDERERS ,NOT PEOPLE TRYING TO DICTATE AND SPECULATION ABOUT IT, BECAUSE WE WASN'T THERE ,YOU CAN'T PUT NOBODY Soul IN HEAVEN ,
