The DA connot trust the ANC with their history of not being true to their word. Remember that CR himself called the ANC acused no 1 during the Zondo commission. The DA must then rather remain the official opposition.

I'm sure if the DA could decide cabinet themselves they would take all the posts but it is clear from their demands that they want to ensure they get a post that they can make meaningful change for everyone within the next 5 years as this will be key to their survival as a party. The ANC lost the elections, the DA is 100% correct in their demands. There is no government without the DA in the current GNU arrangement. Ramaphosa does not have the final say otherwise he'll have vote of confidence on his first day in parliament.
All parties were baying for cyril's blood before elections as ANC protected him. Now his party lost majority & the small/other parties numbers were too fragmented for him to consolidate for his survival. MK conflict with ANC made it worse, as it could have saved him.

I see what you mean, but if they were genuinely trying to fix the "mess" the ANC made, they would prioritize portfolios like policing, labor, and basic education. Many of their solutions for the portfolios they desire are classist and could cause more harm than good. For example, their proposed solutions for higher education would likely exacerbate existing issues rather than resolve them. Additionally, we don't really know how capable they are of fixing the "mess." While they may excel in service delivery in well-off areas, they fall short in informal settlements and are not truly aware of the struggles of South Africans living below the poverty line. I’d like to see them in portfolios that actually need change to see if they can truly walk the talk.

Basically the DA wants every strategic portfolio in South Africa. It seems like they see themselves as having the plurality rather than the ANC. I remember at some point they were saying it's not about positions and now they want all of them. Imagine demanding all strategic portfolios to have their minister, the deputy and the dg. I will not be shocked if they also want all the portfolio committee chairs for those ministries in parliament.

I think we need to look at what the IFP and NP got in 1994 during the GNU. Np: We had 2 Deputy Presidents, the NP got one Deputy President. Finance Agriculture Tourism Minerals and Energy Welfare Provincial Affairs General Affairs So 7 plus 1 deputy president The IFP got Home Affairs Arts and Culture Prisons So only 3. The NP got about 23% of the Vote while the IFP got 10% The DA is being very unreasonable in their demands. If I were them I would go for 5 major ministries where they can show the country what they can do and 5 deputy ministries along with several major provincial ministries in Gauteng. There are 10 parties in this "GNU" I would imagine each of those parties will at least want 1 deputy ministry.

D A have the intellect and skills to manage this country .The inefficient politicians fear challenges .Only the DA can make a difference financially to all the people of this country ..DA is asking for all the departments that failed the people of South Africa and to improve same. The DA cannot rescue the economy. People in the areas that the DA governed have fallen further into poverty, especially the black and coloured. The DA only achieves making the rich richer and the poor poorer. If you read what their "economic policies" are focused on, you will see that end result will be the further exclusion of many south africans from key economic sectors. If they get the portfolios they asked for, the inequality gap in this country will be as bad as it is in the Western Cape.
This might be a trap fpr the DA to expose themselves of what they really are, then ANC go back to the MK&EFF do so just to show the people that these people are just some typical scavengers. I hope soo.
