O Rourke is only one player. Its not like Meath are Dublin a county that won their 15 All Ireland with kerry, Mayo men, every county was on their first 15 All Ireland teams but Dublin men. Up to 1958 , the previous 15 Dublin All Irelands were comprised with 12 or 13 players from down country with 2 or 3 token Dubs to make up the 15. Even an all 15 man Wicklow team won All Ireland for Dublin. A Bray gaa club won one of Dublins earliest All Irelands. Theres also so many other examples of players playing for other counties. Larry Tompkins and Shea Fahey from kildare playing fof Cork. The kildare 98 team had Brian lacey from Tipp, Karl Dwyer from Kerry, Brian Murphy from Cork and Cathal Sheridan from Meath. The difference with O Rourke and many of these players is O Rourke went to primary and secondary school in Meath, played all in his underage club football and senior. He has lived for 55 years in Meath, worked and reared family in Meath, played 19 years for Meath and managed underage, club and county teams in Meath. Other Dubs you could mention former Dublin captain and manager Tommy Carr is a Tippearey man his brother captained Tipp to hurling All Ireland. Sean Doherty was a Wicklow man. And Tommy lyons former Dublin manager was a Mayo man. Theres tradition in GAA especially in Dublin of country players playing for Dublin.

Unfortunately for Meath we got the worst Mount Rushmore selector, even worse than Mayo's Nathan Murphy, Tommy is clueless, Mick Lyons, great player, but not even Meath's best full back, Graham instead of Trevor give me a break, and neither of them even mentioned one of the greatest national hunt jockeys of all time,Tommy Carberry, check out 1975 and see what he won, very disappointed with both Tommy and Hector

Tommy is proud of those Meath teams because they were hardy; every other county called them dirty.

Well look at all the great players Meath have produced , the 87 88 team had 4 footballers of the year on that team eg O Malley, O Connell, O Rourke and Stafford. Meath have produced some of the greatest defenders, midfielders and forwards of all time. The joint 4th most sucessful county and in the last 90 years only kerry and Dublin have been more sucessful then Meath. And Meath up to 1999 was rural population with population smaller then Mayo with population around 100000. Yet this rural county went toe to toe with Dublin for 80 years. Look.at the all great players Meath have produced eg Paddy O Brien, Peter McDermont, Jack Quinn, Pat Reynold Snr, Mattie Kerrigan, Mick Lyons, Robbie O Malley, Joe Cassells, Gerry McEntee, Martin O Connell, Colm O Rourke, Brian Stafford, Bernard Flynn, Darren Fay, Mark Reilly, John McDermont, Tommy Dowd, Graham Geraghy, Trevor Giles, Ollie Murphy, Stephen Bray, Donal keoghan. And of course one of the greatest if not the greatest manager of all time, Sean Boylan. If you produce great defenders, great midfielders and particularly great forwards, that why Meath are one of the most sucessful counties in gaelic football. Great players win titles, and Meath have produced many many great players.
