@HannahLikes Per request, these are most of my activities and such from high school. **Spoiler alert most of these are uninteresting because I am a very normal person** Happy Life by FREDJI / fredjimusic / fredjimusic
Haha, I really feel you when you say you’re the “worst of the best”. I highly doubt you ARE the worst of the best, but I feel that way all the time myself. Good enough to be above average, but not good enough to be the absolute top. Hehehe.
AND this is the video in which we find out that I am a very normal person with very typical achievements! There were a few activities that I put on my common app that I didn't list in this video for personal reasons, but this covers most of what I submitted. This is one of my most requested videos so i hope you enjoyyyyyyy
You're so easy to root for and will surely do amazing things. My daughter and I have together enjoyed your vids while she's been on her own college app journey. Regarding your commended scholar friend with a lower PSAT score, if he or she is in the same state (and you aren't at a boarding school with majority of out-of-staters), then your friend simply scored higher than you on the writing section and lower than you on the math section. National Merit goes by the selection index score, and then doubles the value of the writing side. It arguably makes sense because there are more writing questions compared to math. I'm guessing you had a 210 and he or she had a 211. The NMSC competition is, of course, irrelevant to Ivy applicants, who are all expected to be able to academically excel in such grander ways. Being a semifinalist or finalist gives a terrific opportunity for full rides at colleges working to increase their own academic status - a recruiting tool, in a manner of speaking. Have an awesome day!
You are so talented!! Congrats on attending Dartmouth in the fall. I’m only in middle school but you are a huge inspiration for me!! You are so humble and I can’t even begin to comprehend this video. It’s just too amazing.
Besides sports and NHS (not really interested in NHS because legit everyone does it and it has no meaning lol) my school has zero options to become involved. Even in my community I’m super limited because I literally live in Amish country Ohio. I’m not sure what to do? I have participated in three varsity sports, however I would like to be more involved in my community and experience more around me. Any ideas that aren’t typical?
Hey so I was trying to research a program with the Bowery mission where you can volunteer as a teen but without your parents because usually you need them to be there. I was just wondering where did you find info on this particular program?
Hi, I’m going to be an incoming junior this year and I’m taking AP Bio, AP Physics C, AP Psych, AP Lang, and AP Calc AB. How manageable does this sound to you? I also hope to do research on the side and enter various competitions. Thank you for your opinion in advance!
Hey I'm a freshman taking AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C, AP Human Geography, and AP Computer Science principles. Could you give me some advice on how to best succeed in these classes?
I'm a junior and I took AP CSP last year. I'm taking AP Calc this year (they let you take that and AP Physics as a freshman??) so I can't say much about that, but AP Computer Science Principles isn't that difficult if you're willing to put in the time. Second semester (for me) is when you start coding. We used JavaScript in my class but the exam uses pseudocode so your class might use another language. What I can say for certain is that I had very little programming experience going into it (I'd used Scratch before and dabbled on Codecamy but that's about it) and I learned everything I needed to during the class and still got a 5 overall. The AP CSP exam has 3 parts: the create performance task, explore performance task, and then the multiple choice exam. Imo, the multiple choice was easy and IF you do very well on your performance tasks, there's a large margin that you can miss on the multiple choice and still get a 5. So I'd focus on the performance tasks. The biggest thing to keep in mind I think is that they NEED TO FIT THE RUBRIC. On the create performance task, you could have an amazing program that works perfectly and still not get all the points because you didn't have or explain the specific abstraction or algorithm or whatnot. Personally, I did NOT have a perfect program, but it DID have the necessary components and your explanation of those is what is graded. Same goes with the Explore task. Just make sure you have everything the rubric asks for, check and double check your work, and if there's something where you're uncertain about whether it fits the criteria, it doesn't hurt to find something else that you know for certain would work. Anyway, those are just a few tips. Overall, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Given the advanced courseload you're taking, I'm assuming you're a pretty smart student, and AP CSP probably will be one of your easier AP exams. Yes, make sure you know your stuff when exam day rolls around, but the majority of your time doesn't need to be focused on this class. Good luck!
