It's a spring day and the birds are in full song. The sun is shining on the golden stone walls of the beautiful ruins of Basingwerk Abbey. Basingwerk is a great place to walk, with plenty of green space and architecture to enjoy. It's free and open dawn to dusk every day. There is plenty of free public car parking available, just follow the signs of the abbey. If you're visiting the famous Wrexham then it's an easy drive and a great place to see for a bit of countryside air.
There are many other historic sites in the vicinity such as St Winefriede's Well and Greenfield Park historic area so it's a fantastic place for a day out. It's probably not suitable when it's been raining as the ground can get muddy and there isn't much cover.
