One thing I saw another video such as this, was to not even attach the control surfaces if they are a different color until you paint them what ever they are supposed to be. It saves having to mask them.

I have recently built and Airfix B17, however the issue with the front guns before painting is the same. Rather than temporarily glue in the large side windows, I glued them in permanently without the guns which of course allows me to sand them in nicely and paint with the main body. I left the the starlight off completely, and after main painting and weathering, it was possible - with only a minor amount of patience, swearing and tweezers - to retrospectively insert the front guns through the starlight apperture. Of course - test fit everything lots before committing to this! It was thence relatively east to fit the starlight, paint and weather it to hide the join. Good luck to anyone who want to try the same approach, but it worked for me.

Come to think of it, yours appears to be a better approach. I am sure it was time consuming but I am equally sure that the result is much better. I think I cut corners here. In the least, I should have glued all pieces together, puttied and sanded them, leaving only the nose cone to be glued in later. I am surprised this didn't come to me while building :(

Hello, was wondering why you painted the nice od green, followed by the nice aluminum color, only to spray over with the ugly Grey paint? Also, why did you stuff the wheel wells with paper? Does it really matter if paint gets inside or not? Am I misunderstanding something? Thanks! Love your vids

Another real good job. Too bad about the PE parts. If you watch some vids on "The Midwest Model Shop" he talks about heating your PE parts so they hold their shape better.

I know...I need more experience handling these parts. I was thinking next time, whenever that is, I will use a pair of scissors to cut the parts with the paper. Then bend the part using some tools and only when it fits nicely, remove the paper and then glue it on using some super glue. But I will surely look up the video you have suggested. Thanks mate :)

The super glue didn't cause the clear parts to fog up?
@scalemodellingmadness4114

Hey there, the thing is I used a tiny little amount of super glue. If one wants to be even more safe, one can use PVA, but I find it leaves a film behind when you remove the part and that film is very irritating to remove and comes with a risk of scratching the paint. But once again, use tiny amounts it will be ok.

I have the academey memphis Belle 1/72 kit earmarked for purchase next week, do you think I could handpaint it, only just started back and dont own an airbrush or the skills

If you are coming back to the hobby after some time, I would recommend that you start with a smaller kit. The Belle may be in 72nd scale, but it is still a relatively large kit. So, perhaps start with a 72nd fighter or even a 48th scale, you know a more manageable size till you find your stride. There is no problem with hand painting the kits. I have done a couple of series about hand painting, they are on the channel, you could check them out. Hope that helps. Good luck with the build :)

Hey Joe...actually with the airbrush I don't really do multiple coats. Usually, one coat is enough.
