Despite its age, this model still holds up very well in terms of detail and is an excellent base for modification should you wish. I decided to convert the model to the seaplane version using MDC's resin, white metal and PE accessory set. There have been other conversion sets in this scale the past, including 'snow shoes' and the minesweeper ring but sadly, both of these option are no longer available.
I chose this colour scheme because the aircraft retained its winter colour scheme, despite being seconded to the Aegean Sea area, having previously been operational in southern Russia idirung the winter of 1942/43, and originally fitted with wheeled undercarriage. That arrangement was removed in favour of attaching floats, and the temporary code of its new unit was applied to the rudder. '1Z+NM' was on the strength of 5./KGzbV1 (Kampfgeschwader zur besonderen Verwendung - lit. battle squadron on special operations, an early title for transport units) while operating in Russia, and then Lufttransportstaffel 1 (See) (Maritime air transport squadron 1). This Ju52 was lost in a landing accident at the end of May, 1943, and phtographic evident exists of it being salvaged from the depths of Athens-Phaleron harbour thereafter on 1 June, 1943.
I hope you like this model, and thanks for taking time to look in.
