Thanks for the upload, it looks like an great kit. I have the 1:72 type IX from Revell and that was very expensive but also a great kit. I was looking for the same type/scale with fast diving bow but that is hard to find and insanely expensive. I am glad this one came out in 1:144 scale. A late type IX was sunk outside the coast of Norway near the island of Fedje by a British sub called venturer and it was the only sinking of a submarine done by another submarine during the war.The type IX was on its way from Bergen to Japan with secret blueprints of jet engines and other secret things and it is still on the bottom outside Fedje island.

@@MOS6510Models I think there is,if you Google U864 and HMS Venturer i think you find information about what happened. There is a lot of Quicksilver on the wreck and there has been talk of raising the sub for many years but nothing has been done yet. And the Quicksilver are seeping out of the wreckage.

Surface detail look good, but the railings are thick

Just a thought. When drilling out the holes for the deck railings, when it says 3, you drill out all three. This appears on both sides, this would prevent you putting on the railing on the wrong side, as they can only be placed one way. Just a thought.

MOS even if you /don't/ have a stash, the factory warehouse, courier to retailer, and the retailer will all /stack/ the boxes, as will the courier to you if you buy online. Regardless of the end user the box /will/ be stacked at some point. Re the guns, I think the double-barrelled ones are the flak guns - smaller so you can swing them round quicker on fast moving targets - and the longer single barrelled one is the deck gun. The RCN one says 1945 so my guess is captured after the surrender of European forces. Then the RCN operated it to see why it was so good.

Looks very nice in 144. I don’t now why, but there’s something about subs. I have the 1/72 Platinum edition USN Gato class and U-Boat VIIC-41 in my eclectic small stash. The gato is around 4 foot 6 inches long, the U-Boat around 3 feet.

David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA (Saturday, 17 August, 2024) Revell AG some years past had made a kit of the Fletcher-class U.S. Navy World War Two-era destroyer in this scale that, with this Deutsche Kriegsmarine Unterseeboot model, would make an excitingly dramatic battle diorama.
