The Revelo Scout Adventure takes place every winter in the Texas Hill Country Woods near Utopia, Texas.
Each day participants are guided through prayer, biblical teaching, solitude, journaling, and reflection. Additionally, participants learn and practice the four basic survival skills: shelter, water, fire, and food.
SHELTER building is essential for keeping dry, warm, and protected against the elements. It also provides a sense of place - which is a great morale boost in any situation. Participants learn and practice different tarp set ups as well as how to construct a primitive shelter.
FIRE making is the most fundamental skill and essential skill of self-reliance. Once you have fire you have warmth, light, and the ability to purify water and cook food. A fire also keeps critters away and provides peace and comfort. Participants learn and practice how to make tinder, gather kindling, and start a fire with several basic methods.
WATER procurement is the next essential skill to survival. Participants learn and practice how to find water and how to make it safe to drink using various filtering and purifying methods.
FOOD gathering is the final essential skill to survival. Participants are introduced to several edible and medicinal plants, learn and practice how to make a basic traps and snares, and experience cooking on a camp fire.
REVELO ADVENTURE trips create sacred space for Gospel friendship, leadership growth, and spiritual renewal in the solitude of epic places.
