I remember this awesome game back then in the 90s, I couldn't believe you get to fight Shredder, mother brain, Daredevil, terminator, hulk, Rambo, Jackie Chan, Spiderman, morbius(bat creature from Spiderman) Godzilla, and even jiraiya(from Naruto) lol all in one game, truly a classic

My cousin had the uncensored version of this game. The instruction booklet listed Spider-Man as one of the bosses, but not Batman. I found both of them something of a shock. There were also enemies that looked similar to Rambo, they ended up being changed, too. The original game must be worth a lot, now.

It's not that the US version was altered, period. The altered US version is the second version. I used to have the original US release of RoS with the bosses intact.

They actually made him look *more* like Spiderman in this version. Apparently the Japanese version used more of a dark navy color instead of that bright blue.

I beat this game and even managed to get the Good Ending when I was 10 years old. Tried going back to it a couple years ago and couldn’t for the life of me get past the dinosaur boss.

I feel like this game doesn't come up in conversations about the hardest Genesis games very often when though imo it's one of the hardest games on the console. Especially the last handful of levels and bosses. Just absolutely brutal.

By far the game with best Ending and ending music as well. Outstanding.

This game is incredible. I played it in the early 90’s.

I heard that for this version, MARVEL actually give the developer permission to use the actual Spider-Man. However, instead transforming into Devil-Man, Spider-Man simply left the scene.

The changes to the bosses wasn't a US vs. Japan thing. My Japanese copy of this game is a later re-release with the bosses changed, and the US version was initially released with the bosses in tact.

The car is what got me so many times. Wasn't until much later I was able to get past that level. Looking at it now seems so easy. Not when you're 9 though.

The last boss is called renjishi. Its a famous kabuki teather character. Its the lion guardian of heavens. The statue in my thumbnail is the same character.

I remember being blown away by the graphics and style but now looking at it, I'm like WTF? I god that Dinosaur Robot so much cooler in my head, and sound way CD quality in my head.

The disco room has “Zeed” written on its walls, which is a reference to the first villain of Hokuto no Ken.

I finally found it...the game that kicked my motherfuckin ass as a kid. except I remember that first samurai boss with the red armor being different. I remember him being taller than that, like almost the size of the buildings, and with a pale color scheme as if he were a dead samurai. but this is definitely it. you don't mistake those special magic attacks.

I liked the fact that you confront spidey in the stage boss there and after that you have the demon like creature attacks,demon goblin perhaps? Sega loved the comic book heroes as it seems & such!

The decisions were made because of licensing, and on the original version they did have them all in it but in the second version released that same year they were taken out, look up both of the versions.

So bosses in this game consists of: 1) A blue shinobi capable of little to nothing in-game 2) An admittedly cool boss... if only the background didn't give me much of a seizure 3) Shameful Mother Brain ripoff 4) A familiar human/robot hybrid that was only out for 5 years then. 5) Is this a boss battle, or is it actually the Boobeam Trap? 6 (Version 1): Your not-so friendly neighborhood Spider-Man then replaced by a Dark Knight. (Later Versions): Pink Guy before he was Pink Guy then replaced with a not very Dark Knight. 7 (Version 1): Baby Godzilla (Later Versions): Baby Godzilla's skeletal remains after the last few versions about a year ago. 8) Shantae's long lost grandfather.

This version is easier than the one I had growing up. I could see that the proximity box of Blue Crab (blue samurai) is significantly larger. Shadow dancer is much more aggressive and faster in the old version. The brain looked about the same. And I never got farther than that boss as a kid.

Ah, in this one, they changed Batman to the monster but kept Spider-Man the original colors. In the Switch emulator, Spider-Man is pink and it's the monster. I miss the original where they didn't get a damn about copyright, haha.
