It's encouraging to hear bone density can be reversed in real case. I read every 1 out of 4 elderly falls at home. Bone and muscle health is so important.

Thank you for this enlightening & encouraging presentation! I also take NMN , Resveratrol, & Quercitin! I will talk to my wellness doctor about this and hopefully start taking it soon! I was diagnosed with osteoporosis a year ago and I am on boron , D3 and K2 mega doses! I do lots of walking but need to add the strength training as well!

OK Finally received my ALive By Science Liposomal Apigenin and NMN (both in pill form and 3 month supply) Will start taking them together OCT 1. Look forward to following your results as I believe you are us going to be using these two as well.

Lifting weights more than once or twice a week would show a better result!
@ModernHealthspan
@ModernHealthspan 2 года назад
Hi Jerry, Thanks for sharing. We have been lifting weights for a while but it did not seem to help with the bone score. I certainly do think that it is helpful. We discussed this with Prof Burr it seems that bones gain from the first few minutes of exercise but then it doesn't effect them any more. They then recover in six hours or so and the exercise can be repeated.

When we balance on 1 foot , the muscles contract , and are estimated to generate a force equal to 2.75 times the weight of the person. For an individual weighing 70 kg (154 lb) that means 192 kg (423lb) concentrated on the femur ( thigh bone ) No need to guess the powerful bone growth stimulation here . I personally notice the stimulation and force on the ankle joints and ligaments as well. They will continue to move in all directions under load .😊 best of health everybody

The kind of exercise matters. Lifting weights is not the only thing that contributes to bone development. One study found that sprinters had more bone density than long distance runners. So, high intensity interval training (HIIT) such as wind sprints would also help.

Go heavy. Learn the corect form. In time, aim for 5 to 8 reps to failure. But take care of joints. Testosterone on guys might go up as well. Never too late to grow some muscle. 🏆

Hi Sharapova, thanks for sharing. Vit D is needed and also exercise like lifting weights, that stress your bones. This was something we discussed with Prof Burr.
@MarmaladeINFP
@MarmaladeINFP 2 года назад
Calcium, vitamin D3, and exercise is not enough. You also need vitamin K2. Boron, strontium, collagen, etc will also help. Calcium is one several nutrients that make for strong and flexible bones. And Vitamin D3 ensures the absorption and use of calcium. But it is vitamin K2 that determines where calcium ends up. Without it, calcium might not go to your bones and, instead, end up where it will cause harm --- in your arteries, joints, brain, and elsewhere.

Thanks for another informative video! How did you measure your bone density? If you have to do it with x-ray on multiple occasions I would be worried about the radiation inflicting genetic damage etc, not good for longevity.

Precisely why I don’t do the test. Besides, at my age, they even admit to wanting to “verify” the need to prescribe a drug, Fosamex or similar, to improve the condition. Problem is, after five years on the drug, the result is 31% increased susceptibility for breaking femur! The biggest leg bone! Plus increased incidence of breast cancer! Can’t make this stuff up! 😢

Hi Richard - thanks for sharing. Just had dexa scan last week as first ever and my T-score 1.7. Was shocked as run 5 days a week with one day doing fast repeats at track. Also at lafitness 5 nights week doing bench press, deadlifts, squats, pull-ups, etc. In 60s so little older than you. Doing all this exercise stuff the past 30 yrs. No processed foods and body fat at 10%. Take 5000 units vitamin d too. So I’m still lacking something. Maybe to take mentioned below. Also read boron a must too. Have you looked into these two items I mention? And will probably order the supplement you are taking. Thanks for your updates. Scientists at Tokyo University found that supplementation with collagen calcium chelate improved bone strength to a greater extent than the same amounts of calcium and collagen either given separately or together but in a non-chelated form. Specific improvements with collagen calcium chelate were seen not only in bone mineral density but just as importantly in femur (thigh bone) weight, bone collagen production, and bone flexibility and strength. In an experimental model of osteoporosis, the test group received a low-calcium diet for one week. In addition to their low-calcium diet, some of the test group consumed a high-dose collagen calcium chelate. The cohort receiving high-dose collagen calcium chelate had an increase in femur bone weight by an impressive 9.6%, compared with the group given the same amount of calcium in non-chelated form. The test group receiving the collagen calcium chelate had dose-dependent increases in bone mineral density, which were 3.5% to 11.1% higher than those seen in the group receiving the same amount of non-chelated calcium. The investigators concluded that collagen calcium chelate had an additive effect on bone mineral density, better than that of calcium alone or of a simple calcium and collagen mixture (AIDP data on file). Collagen calcium chelate was also associated with increases in femur bone strength, by about 9.9% to 25%, compared with the group receiving the same amount of calcium (AIDP data on file). Remarkably, the benefits of collagen calcium chelate were evident after only eight weeks of supplementation. Given these encouraging results, a large clinical study is currently underway, in collaboration with the US Army, to look at the effect of collagen calcium chelate on bone fractures in hard-training recruits.

You also need to take K2 if you are taking that much D. D increase calcium absorption significantly but it goes all over the body not just bones. K2 helps move calcium to bones.
@MarmaladeINFP
@MarmaladeINFP 2 года назад
That's definitely true about K2. That determines calcium actually gets into your bones. But I'd also recommend eating a diet that is animal-based and nose-to-tail. Consider including tougher meats, organ meats, bone broths, bone meal, etc. And when you eat gristly meat, make sure to eat the gristle. Supplementing individual nutrients only gets you so far. These animal foods will provide numerous vitamins, minerals, and cofactors that can't be duplicated through supplementation alone.

Hi Michael thanks for sharing. You certainly have an impressive regimen for exercise and diet! We did look at boron and I took it for a while but am not taking it now. I try to be deliberate about my supplements and not take too many and it fell off my top 10 list. The numbers from the Tokyo trial are very impressive but I could not find the study on pubmed. Was it published? It would be very interesting if you have a link, I would like to read it. For bone health it may be worth listening to our talk with Prof Burr. One thing I recall was that bones only reacted to the first few minutes of stress (exercise) but then stopped. So a 20 minute work out will have a bigger impact on your muscles than a 10 minute workout, but for your bones after a few minutes it makes no difference. So the aim would be to have small bursts of exercise (like jumping) every 6 hours.

@@hikeroutpost hello - thanks for comment. For past couple yrs have been taking 100 mcg of k2 mk-7 for reason you mention. With recent poor dexa scan numbers have bumped up to 200 mcg. With my 5000iu vitamin d2 supplement my vitamin d25-oh total blood serum number is 41ng/ml so level not excessively high.

@@ModernHealthspan Hi Richard - thanks for followup. I too looked more to find study details I posted here 2 days ago - these details from another short article on bone health but couldn’t find anything on the actual Japan study. Will update if do get more. I order supplement you mentioned and get Wednesday. Also ordered LEF calcium collegen chelate + boron supplement from iherb. In about 3 months will get another dexa scan.
