I like reverse grip. On my experience this is a very strong grip for several reasons: first its more difficult to disarm you can test it asking someone try to take off your knife if you are resisting, second is the thrust, it is the most dangerous because gravity and body structure. At middle age people used this grip for pierce armors with sucesss and third is because you can do it with all kinds of weapons or objects like knives, karambits, screwdrivers, pens, palm stick, keys, etc. With a lot if sucess. I have tested on full contact agresive sparring and is very destructive and the missed range is minimal , in a knife fight only there is one range the knife touch you or not.

Awesome video about validating teaching, experimenting with different handgrips n being opened minded about different teachings n techniques. Also being flexible in utilizing weapons that maybe available from my surroundings, excellent suggestion. Kudos to you for spreading that philosophy n teachings. Looking forward to your next one.

Always loved the reverse grip but ive always also had a good sense of outside the box an unorthodox thinking too. Always hear so much from so many so called experts but they knownlittle or nothing about the Reverse grip too. When they really just know about their favorites or claim to know an probably dont hardly at all. Unlike here

My technique would be identical but I'd prefer a double edged war tool. The slash across is for bitchin em and the stab is for killing em. Preferably across the tendon on the right, all power when you bitchem, then on the pull back, divert power too the thumb cap which I learnt from you and aim for the eyes or higher. Temple is ideal. Repeat as necessary. Would this work on my mannequin or MMA dolls in future? I am a hobbiest, I love this style!! 🧙

I only train with sharpened fighting knives. I keep running out of sparring partners though. Which is odd

Saksak is obviously more useful (especially for largo), but for me, pakal was definitely easier to get a hang of and is my favorite area. I also love both versions of pakal and train them equally. And a hard YES on capping the knife in pakal, because there's no reason not to (it's a must if you ask me).

Here in Canada, citizens are allowed to carry knives of any blade length BUT the catch is, police officers have the authority to confiscate EDCs (Everyday Carry Knives) whenever they feel like it. PLUS if you tell an officer that you carry the knife for self defense purposes, that's an automatic confiscation. MOREOVER, if you actually use the knife for self-defense, after let's say that knife saved you from being beaten to death by a group of violent thugs, that is now a guaranteed charge AGAINST YOU by the government. Anyway, great video, Paul.

" MOREOVER, if you actually use the knife for self-defense, after let's say that knife saved you from being beaten to death by a group of violent thugs, that is now a guaranteed charge AGAINST YOU by the government." Damn. I thought this kind of crap only happens here in Russia. If during the defense you inflict unnecessary damage on the bandit, then you yourself will turn from a victim into a criminal. It will be lucky if the court will only force you to pay compensation to this poor asshole.

Absolutely bullshit. There's no more secrets. That ridiculous. It takes zero skill to pick up a knife and use it.

In this video he emphasizes capping the knife with your thumb to stop your hand from riding onto the blade. In the previous video on hammer grip, he lets his thumb ride along the back of the blade. Weak grip and if you do stab with it, your hand will go forward onto the blade or you'll break your thumb. Look elsewhere. He hasn't a clue about what he's talking about. FMA is not the way.

Don’t reverse grip? Lol you probably really shouldn’t do anything in life. Just sit and wait for the end. Do whatever you want. It’ll all be over sometime anyway. 👍🏻
