I picked up one of these ultrasonic leak detectors from eBay for about $30. It definitely works to some degree but I wasn’t thrilled, because when I tested it on a known leak I was unable to pick it up. It was able to pick up larger leaks another small one. In the video I go through the exact process on what I did to test it. I was able to pick up some electrical frequencies in an LED light and a fluorescent light circuit. I’m gonna keep playing with it but I was hoping that it would pick up a small leak with 60 PSI behind it

so which one is shittier - the soapy water or the leak detector ? it seems to have a delay after 1:16 tho, so maybe that is the issue with finding the leak?

That's a big leak on the hose. You could hear that with you ears. Ultrasonic picks up small leaks you can't hear, that's the whole point.

ultrasonic leak detectors work best at higher psi. 60 psi isn't going to work with Chinese leak detectors. you'll need more sensitive sensor than that lol

Do you think it will detect the leak if you run a vacuum you will hear it ? I think s vacuum only goes down to 30hg

I have an under slab leak so big it won't hold pressure. I really considered buying this to narrow down the area I need to bust out concrete. I think I'll save the money and buy something else. As for your test, remember it has 2 sensitivity levels and it is for ultrasonic sound. By its description it is not made for sounds in the range we can hear. Some cheap Chinese tools are RIP off junk. I have been lucky with most I have bought off of Ebay. It's a gamble...
