hey Matt, I was just wondering how quick it actually feels.. Are there any other cars you might compare it to? faster than 2015+ wrx?

tiger cat You're right. It feels like more. Claimed 0-60 is about 4.9 seconds and I get 5 dead consistently even with my amateur shifting.

They are rare on the road because of the issues with the polymer timing chain guides and the expense associated with replacing them when they deteriorate.

if you don't have anyone to work on these cars then dont buy it. I have one its pain in ass to work on it but very fun to drive lol

Maintenance queens? Lol. No there not. There pretty bulletproof for the most part. Then again if your comparing it to a Honda or a Toyota then anything European will seem expensive to you.

My son was shopping for a car in 2015. A local used auto dealer had one and we test drove it. His commented upon exiting the driver’s seat, “Wow! That thing will put a smile on your face.” I pulled it around the used dealers office / double wide trailer to park it back at the front of the lot. It would bark all 4 tires from a rolling start. But, Audi placed the timing chain around the flywheel on these models to fit that 4.2L V8 into the engine compartment that was really only designed for a 4-banger. The cost associated with replacing the lower guides and tensioners is prohibitive. I’ve heard that some dealers quoted prices of $8k to perform the service. It would be a difficult or impossible service for a home / backyard mechanic to perform since the engine must be pulled from beneath the vehicle. You pretty much need to have a lift. Hence, the reason you see so few of them on the roads these days when they are only 12 year old vehicles at this point.

I had a 2007 RS4.... I could spend all day revving it out. Perfectly spaced gearing ratios. I wish I still had it!

Hahah hah! The parts alone to service the timing chain apparatus on those are like $3000.

Marcus Rock you need to pull the motor to replace the tensioners.

@@markteague8889 Wrong. People are continuously spreading this misconception. Anyone who hasn't owned one please refrain from giving out this info. It might have cost that much in 2006 when it was brand new and under warranty but not anymore. Everything can be done for well under $3000USD. The kit listed below is $900USD and includes RS4 metal guides so the problem never happens again. Patrick .K I said ... a service for which Audi dealers charged (past tense) as much as $8000. Of course one can have the work done more economically by avoiding the dealer network. I guess, I made the assumption that most car buyers are aware that dealers make more profit from service than they do from sales of new cars.

@@ballodium9358 They crammed a V8 into what started out as a 4-cyl. car. It's actually a shortened (by 4") Passat platform.

Word! LOL. Nothing like spending $6k-$8k on what should be a routine 100k mile service.

• i did my chains at 150k and did a bunch of other work for around 6k last year • new sub-frames, stainless steel brake lines, aux radiator, engine mounts, abs sensor, battery • it is expensive, but not as much as most people claim •

The 3.0T is more reliable, and more powerful. But the engine sound is not nearly as good.

• a decent audi shop should be able to take care of the chains for 5k parts and labor • i just did my chains last year and threw in the rs4 guides which are metal so the chain shouldn't be an issue •

As long as you do your preventative maintenance it's solid. And it sounds magnificent.

With the VF supercharger the RS4 is stupid fast lol

The regular S4 with the VF kit will make about 500 bhp. The RS is closer to 600 I believe lol. That’s just bolt on boost lol

That is only on the B7 RS4s of that generation.

Those are tough to find but I’d love to review one if I get the chance!

True, but you have to pull the whole motor to get to them unfortunately because they’re up against the firewall. $5k minimum unless you do your own work. Such a shame because it’s an awesome car.

Yep 2007, and 2008. I had a 2007. Not only more power, better gearing. A far more exhilarating drive.
